From the summer of 2019 to the summer of 2020, numerous military exercises were conducted worldwide. These exercises ranged from large-scale joint operations involving multiple nations to smaller, specialized drills aimed at enhancing specific military capabilities. The period covered was unique due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to the modification, postponement, or cancellation of some exercises. However, several key exercises were still carried out during this time.

1. United States and NATO Exercises:

Defender-Europe 20 (Europe, 2020): Initially planned as the largest deployment of U.S.-based forces to Europe in over 25 years, this exercise aimed to enhance U.S. and NATO interoperability and readiness. Due to COVID-19, it was significantly scaled back.

Tsentr-2019 (Central Russia, September 2019): A large-scale Russian military exercise involving around 128,000 troops, 20,000 pieces of equipment, and troops from China, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. The focus was on counterterrorism operations and coalition building.

Kavkaz 2020 (Southern Russia, September 2020): A strategic command and staff exercise involving more than 80,000 personnel, including international participants such as China, Armenia, Belarus, Myanmar, and Pakistan. It focused on defensive operations in the Caucasus region.

3. China and Asia-Pacific Exercises:

Joint Sea 2019 (Yellow Sea, April 2019): A joint naval exercise between Russia and China, aimed at enhancing coordination and improving combat capabilities in various maritime operations, including anti-submarine warfare and anti-aircraft drills.

Exercise Cobra Gold 2020 (Thailand, February-March 2020): One of the largest multinational military exercises in Asia, co-hosted by Thailand and the U.S., with 29 countries participating in various capacities. The exercise focused on regional security, humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, and amphibious operations.

RIMPAC 2020 (Rim of the Pacific Exercise) (Hawaii, August 2020): The world's largest international maritime warfare exercise, typically involving multiple navies from around the world, was conducted in a scaled-down format due to COVID-19. It involved 10 countries and focused on enhancing maritime interoperability.

4. Middle East and Africa Exercises:

Eagle Response 2019 (Egypt, July 2019): A joint exercise between U.S. Naval Forces Central Command and the Egyptian military, focusing on naval interdiction, mine countermeasures, and defense against terrorist threats.
