While cloud tops have warmed within the past few hours, the overall structure and core has become much more well defined, and will allow for further and quicker intensification within the next 48 hours.
Francine is expected to become a Hurricane overnight tonight.

The NHC has upgraded peak forecast intensity to 100mph, which is a Category 2 before and around landfall.

Hurricane Warnings are in effect for the Louisiana coastline. Tropical Storm Warnings are in effect for inland parts of Southeast TX & Southwest LA.

However, several key exercises were still carried out during this time.
