A lot of the fellow fans of the dynamic duo will no doubt have already heard the news; DaftPunk have retired in Feb of 2021

It's a little sad to hear; but not wholly unexpected after so long together & a fairly extended quiet-patch in recent years also.

If they indeed no longer intend to perform together; then it makes sense to let that be known as per making that official in the recent 'Epilogue' post.


It probably also doesn't come as any surprise also that DaftPunk were in incredibly influential to myself personally (& also around the world) to many in & outside of just music circles

It was indeed the very Track & vid'clip; 'Around the World' that was the first penny dropping for me back as a primary-Schooler in actually developing an interest in music at all actually.
(Prior to that, music was just something my parents listened to, and was ok I guess. *Had no real pull to that that beyond though)

But hearing and seeing such an eclectic mix of what the artform could be deeply resonated in a young me & a spark of interest sudden awakened

Not to mention their sound & general aesthetic has been an inspiration that's truely timeless & touched many beyond also.
(Do believe a certain favourite Canadian band of mine, TWRP, came into existence via some heavy inspiration from the Duo + others ❤️)

Interstellar5555 will always hold a special place in my heart as an example of a truly beautiful masterpiece of music, animation & storytelling interweaved breathtakingly


But most of all; the pairs music to this day still reaches a certain wholesome oneness in sharing music, expression & imagination in us all I think.

And that's something that I think I'll always appreciate no matter where the bright, wide & exciting future ahead takes me.
