– Perfect styling to the theme, lovely finish & the pull-out made insert is stunning too!

– the little Decorated fans!? GORGEOUS!
Themic & well-suited for the ambient heat at this time of year!

🌸 Spring of Magic: Cottage Core Critters
(a sweet Table-Top RPG!)

Step into the whimsical world of Cottage Core Critters : a heartwarming TTRPG inspired by the charm of Beatrix Potter.

MFC this year saw @ScarletSongSocial host a
live play-session panel!
Where attendees could witness (& gently join in gently on!) an improvised tale of adorable critters embarking on gentle adventures with dice-driven antics!

Players included, myself ( @Carnu_Banarnu ), @ScribblyNoodle & @tanrowolf  and game mastered by the Developer and Artist, Scarlet!

— Bit of a more-ish Addictive time-sinker

— CUTE & Aesthetically pleasing as henk (with some sweet 'be kinda to Animal Companions'  vibes laced in) to balance tho


Extended:
Orrighty, so overall, I can't say there is a deep lot to this game
(there's some clunkier parts I starting to get bogged down with in terms of 'there being just a fair bit more of a mental-handful to hold onto each day turn-over' on top of the interface ease leaving a little to be desired in the 'less than Intuitive 'having to re-shuffle around homepens management/overhaul' <& a wee bit too much shallow back-&-forth fetch-questings> )


That being said tho
It -is- cute as dang Cozy as hull!

— And I actually like the amount of Exploration that's lace in (which may get old & more tedious as that becomes mostly explored & only duen to the 100%ing)

— The 'Dinosaur-Charming' mini-challenge is actually kinda neat (to me) too (despite being a little more on the difficult side!) : via a 'SimonSays tones-repeating to the 'saurs - 4 different tones <but each tone can be quite, mid or loud in size>

It's tricky to hold as much in one's head, but it's also forgiving & patience with players too (& feels as though it's a little firmly encouraging a softer approach to animals in that way*?) 'even if it can be a hurdle to ear trust's

Love that 'these are companions you must inspire' - not property or pets <there's even in-game dialogue that pretty much states that underlined too even>

Which pleases the healthier pet-carer in me quite deeply 🩷


Think the Wiki sums it up pretty well with:
"Paleo Pines received an average critic score of 65 out of 100 from Metacritic, equating to "mixed or average reviews".

Ryan Thompson-Bamsey of TheGamer called the game "a largely successful execution of standard farming sim formulas," adding that the dinosaur collecting and caring mechanic was the "most compelling" part of the game.

Screen Rant's Deven McClure felt that it "has all the right ingredients for a cozy game," but that the sometimes "uninviting" character designs and "shallow" features may put off some players."


So yeah!
Think I gently do recommend this (unto those whom can
• accept it with it's few rougher game-play edges
• & unto those whom are looking for cozy/meditative time sinker (..whom I assume & hope y'all  have a better handle on you Addictive Lazer-focusing than I do) 💦
