As per the latest CDSL circular (Ref. CDSL/CIR/DP/OPS/2025/xxx), an individual is not permitted to hold more than 20 Demat accounts across all depositories (CDSL + NSDL).
Depository Participants have been instructed to freeze any Demat accounts that exceed this limit and report them to the regulator.
In case the PAN of your clients is linked to more than 20 active Demat accounts across the industry, in line with regulatory guidelines their Demat accounts will be frozen, and trading will be suspended.
