Happy Disability Pride Month Everyone!

I have lupus and other autoimmune diseases that make day to day life somewhat challenging, but my service dog Bask and my chosen family do so much to maintain my independence and capabilities! I also have ADD, PTSD, a (maybe in remission?) seizure condition, general fatigue, anemia, and others!

This is a big reason my art comes in spurts; depending how bad my fatigue condition is or other chronic health, drawing may just not be in the cards for me: mentally or physically, or both!

Those of us with disabilities have to swim upcurrent to stay in the same place others might be able to stay just by treading water. We should be proud of what we can accomplish, and give ourselves grace and compassion for where our bodies and minds might be pushed past their own capabilities and limits. It's okay to lean on others, medications, mobility or other disability aids, or just draw something as a boundary.

I'm glad you're you, and I'm glad you exist. I'm sorry if your body/mind can be cruel to you, but I'm so proud of you for persevering to whatever capacity you are able to!
