Dipu Chandra Das was a poor garment worker. He was tied to a tree, beaten, and burned to death on false charges of blasphemy. No one will mention Dipu Chandra Das's name, perhaps because mentioning a minority's name won't win votes from right-wing extremists. Perhaps if he had been a member of the left-leaning Daily Star/Prothom Alo or Chhayanaut, they would have spoken about Dipu.

But since poor, helpless Dipu was born into a Hindu family, we must be the ones to remember his name. Attempts will be made to make us forget this murder, and perhaps there will never be any justice. In some corner of the country, the ashes of the poor boy, the sole breadwinner of his family, the garment worker Dipu, will remain. I pray that if Dipu's soul is reborn, it will not be into a Hindu family in this country.
