Here is information to help understand the Keto Diet being discussed frequently on all media platforms

The ketogenic or
“keto” diet is a low-carbohydrate, fat-rich eating plan that has been used for centuries to treat specific medical conditions.

It has been tested and used in closely monitored settings for cancer, diabetes, polycystic ovary syndrome, and Alzheimer’s disease.
The stricter the food intake, the more optimal the results.

Here is a list of recommended foods:
Healthy Fats:
Avocado, nuts, seeds, olive oil, coconut oil, ghee butter, grass-fed butter, tallow, and avocado oil. (Nuts which are good to consume: Almonds, Macadamia, Pecans, Brazil nuts, Walnuts, Hazelnuts, and Pine nuts. Nuts to avoid: Cashews, Pistachios, Chestnuts, Peanuts)

Proteins:
Grass-fed ribeye steak, grass-fed ground beef, line-caught salmon (not farmed), hormone and antibiotic free chicken, and pasture-raised free-range eggs. (Avoid turkey at this time)

Carbohydrates:
A variety of berries including blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and strawberries in amounts not to exceed one handful per day.

Leafy Greens (raw):
All lettuce, baby spinach, arugula, escarole, and frisee

Cooking greens:
Bok choy, collard greens, mustard greens, kale, spinach, Swiss chard, cabbage, asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms, green beans, eggplant, okra

Other Vegetables:
Summer squashes, such as yellow squash, spaghetti squash, and zucchini, are extremely versatile and low in carbs. (Avoid acorn squash and butternut squash as they are high in carbs)

NOTE: Using a spiralizer, you can make zucchini noodles, which are an excellent substitute for pasta or noodles. You can also grate zucchini to make a rice alternative. You can also slice it thinly using a mandoline, then toss it with olive oil, salt, and pepper to enjoy it as a cold salad.

Dairy (if your body tolerates it):
High fat plain greek yoghurt, whipping cream (perfect for morning coffee)
Here is a list foods to avoid:
Understanding and avoiding specific foods can be pivotal in managing inflammation, and recovery.

Seed Oils:
Seed oils such as canola, soybean, and corn oil are overly processed and may contain harmful substances like trans fats, which can induce inflammation and other health problems.

Whey Protein:
Unless sourced very carefully these usually contain concentrated agricultural contaminants and artificial sweeteners. If you can find New Zealand Grass Fed Whey that is sweetened with stevia that would be an exception.

Tap Water:
Avoid the consumption of tap water due to harmful chemicals like chlorine and fluoride, along with heavy metals. Re-mineralize RO water with a small pinch of sea salt of pink Himalayan salt.

Veggies to AVOID:
Potatoes, sweet potatoes, yams, onions (in large amounts), corn, and beets
