1. How internet works?
The internet is a global network of interconnected computers and devices that communicate using standardized protocols. It works by breaking data into smaller packets, which are routed through various networks via IP addresses. When you enter a website URL, a DNS query translates it into an IP address, and your browser sends an HTTP request to the corresponding server, which responds with the requested content.
2. When was the first version of internet created?
The first version of the internet, known as ARPANET, was created in the late 1960s. It was developed by the U.S. Department of Defenseโs Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) and became operational in 1969. ARPANET initially connected four universities and allowed them to share resources and communicate. This foundational network laid the groundwork for the introduction of protocols like TCP/IP and the World Wide Web.

Side Hustles Take Root Across Ethiopian UniversitiesDON'T LET YOUR DEGREE FOOL YOU
Many university students in lecture halls, dorm rooms, and libraries arenโt just immersed in textbooksโtheyโre also trying to find extra work.....!
Betselot Tadele, from AAU, 6 kilo campus
Betselot Tadele, born and raised in the AA, is a fourth-year student at Addis Ababa University. The French language major tutors English and Math to elementary students on top of her own classes. She hopes to realize some degree of financial independence before graduation.
โAs we grow older, our demands increase, and itโs not always possible for parents to meet them,โ Betselot explains.
From transportation and school supplies to personal necessities, she realized early on that relying on family for everything was unsustainable. While her side income sources have helped to cover some of her expenses, it is far from enough to pay for everything. Balancing her studies with tutoring has also introduced a new set of challenges.
โSometimes, all you want to do is call it a day,โ she admits, reflecting on the exhaustion that often follows a long day of classes and work.
In Betselotโs social circle, side-hustling is the norm. Most of her peersโ juggle jobs or pursue additional degrees to support themselves or explore new opportunities. โItโs just how things are now,โ she reflects. โIf someone isnโt working, theyโre probably tackling another degree. Itโs like one degree isnโt enough anymore.โ
More than 460,000 students are currently enrolled in higher education institutions across the country. However, their career prospects might not be as straightforward as it once was. According to a 2022 report by the Ministry of Education, only 58% of university graduates get jobs in Ethiopia. Our capital, Addis Ababa, has the highest unemployment rate in the country at 22.1%.
As l always say the greatest advice comes from real life experience or from those who have faced struggles.

Difference Between Scripting and Non-Scripting Languages
The Scripting languages have powerful features to develop faster automation applications, whereas Non-Scripting languages such as Java, C++, C etc. languages have limited features to relate with automated tasks in the applications.
1) Scripting Languages are interpreted rather than compiled, whereas Non-Scripting languages are mostly compiled.
2) Scripting Languages run slower compared to Non-Scripting Languages as they are interpreted but not compiled.
3) Scripting languages need not be compiled, whereas Non-Scripting languages will be compiled into machine code.
4) An interpreter will interpret scripting languages and be transformed into machine code by the interpreter itself.
5) Scripting Languages are interpreter based whereas Non-Scripting Languages are complier based.
6) Scripting Languages are used to integrate the existing systems or applications, whereas Non-Scripting Languages are used to develop the applications from scratch.
7) Scripting Languages are run within another program or which are wrapped or encapsulated, whereas Non-Scripting Languages are run independently irrespective of the parent or external programs.
8) Scripting Languages are interpreted line by line sequentially, whereas Non-Scripting Languages are compiled at a time in a single stretch.
9) Scripting Languages take less time to code and configure the set up to run the program as they can be easily run with a single line of commands, whereas Non Scripting Languages are needed to be configured to run after writing the code completely and requires series of sequential steps to execute the program.
10) Scripting Languages require a host to run the scripts, whereas Non-Scripting Languages do not require any host but requires an application or web server to deploy the application to run, and few standalone applications can be run independently.
