πŸ‘†Ans. B | Explanation

There are two possible routes between Yamuna bank and Najafgarh - one via Kirtinagar and the other via Huda City Centre.

Yamuna bank to Najafgarh via Huda city centre = (5 + 11 + 10 + 5 + 8) Γ— 1.5 + 5 + 5 = 58.5 + 10 = 68.5 minutes.

Here in this route there are two points at which metro line is changed, so 5 minutes is added 2 times.

Yamuna Bank to Najafgarh via Kirtinagar = (5 + 7 + 13) Γ— 1.5 = 37.5 minutes.

As less time is taken via this route, she will adopt this route to Najafgarh.

Now, time taken to reach Dilshad Garden from Najafgarh = (13 + 7 + 10) Γ— 1.5 + 5 = 50 minutes

Hence, Minimum possible time to complete this entire trip = 37.5 + 50 = 87.5 minutes

πŸ‘†Ans. C | Explanation

Here, Rate = Rs. 0.10/month per Rs. 2

So, rate per Rs. 1 = Rs. 0.05/month

Simple Interest = Principal Γ— Rate Γ— Time = 600 Γ— 0.05 Γ— 9 = Rs. 270

Hence, option (c) is correct.

If Ξ± and Ξ² are two real numbers such that Ξ± + Ξ² = - q/p and Ξ±Ξ² = r/p, where 0<p<q<r (p, q, r are natural numbers), then which one of the following alternatives represents the highest value?
Anonymous Quiz
5%
(a) 1 / (Ξ± + Ξ²)
33%
(b) (1/ Ξ±) + (1/ Ξ²)
48%
(c) – 1/ (Ξ±Ξ²)
13%
(d) Ξ±Ξ²/(Ξ± + Ξ²)
πŸ‘4
πŸ“Œ Ans. C | Explanation

It is given that Ξ± + Ξ² = - q/p and Ξ±Ξ² = r/p, where 0<p<q<r

So, let’s assume p = 1, q = 2 and r = 3.

Putting these values in answer options, we get

(A) 1 / (Ξ± + Ξ²) = - p/q = - (1/2)

(B) (1/ Ξ±) + (1/ Ξ²) = (Ξ± + Ξ²)/ Ξ±Ξ² = -(q/p) Γ— (p/r) = - (q/r) = - (2/3)

(C) – 1/ (Ξ±Ξ²) = -(p/r) = - (1/3)

(D) Ξ±Ξ²/(Ξ± + Ξ²) = r/p Γ— (-p/q)= - r/q = - (3/2)

We can see that, - (1/3) is the greatest among the above values.

Mr. Suresh owns a 5 metre Γ— 4 metre coffee shop. He plans to tile the rectangular floor of this shop with grey-coloured square tiles. Each side of the tile measures 20 cm. What must be the total cost of fitting the tiles, if they cost Rs. 40 per piece?

(a) Rs. 12,000
21%
(b) Rs. 16,000
24%
(c) Rs. 24,000
52%
(d) Rs. 20,000
πŸ‘4πŸ”₯1
πŸ“Œ Ans. D | Explanation

Area of coffee shop = 5 metre Γ— 4 metre = 20 square metres

Area of one tile = 0.2 metres Γ— 0.2 metre = 0.04 square metres

Number of tiles required = Area of rectangular region / Area of one square tile = 20 square metres / 0.04 square metres = 500

Therefore, total cost of fitting the tiles = number of tiles Γ— cost of fitting 1 tile = 500 Γ— 40 = Rs. 20,000

Hence, option (D) is the correct answer.

We know that, if we mix any liquid with water and sell it at cost price to gain a profit of x%, then the ratio of liquid and water is (100:x).

Here, x = 25%

Required ratio = 100:25 = 4:1

(b) 50/3%

(c) 245/3%

(d) 5/3%
πŸ‘1
πŸ“Œ Ans. C | Explanation:

The best way to do this is to start with 100 and calculate the result.

The final number will be as follows:

[(100 Γ— 1/6) Γ· 1/7] Γ— 7/10

= (100/1) Γ— (1/6) Γ— (7/1) Γ— (7/10)

= 245 /3 = 245/3%

So, the final number will be 245/3% of the original number.
