Grok Ai has been banned in Indonesia, becoming the first country to ban it.

Reason :
• Deepfake Immorality: Grok's image-creation feature has been widely misused to manipulate photos of real people (especially women) into indecent content.

• Lack of Guardrails: The government believes Grok's filtering system is not as robust as its competitors (such as ChatGPT or Gemini) in preventing explicit content.

Current Status: This block is labeled "Temporary." We are awaiting Elon Musk's clarification to the Indonesian government to tighten it and ensure that Grok Ai is safe to use.

Indonesia's Ministry of Communication and Information, Meutya Hafid, said:
"To protect women, children, and the entire community from the risk of fake pornographic content generated using artificial intelligence technology, the government is temporarily suspending access to the Grok application."

Apart from Indonesia, Grok will also be blocked by the France Government if there is no clarification regarding this matter.

List of Countries Regarding Grok AI's Operational Status (January 2026)

1. ​Indonesia (Temporary Banned) – The first country to completely block access due to the misuse of the image generation feature for immoral deepfake content.

2. ​Malaysia (Under Restricted Access) – In the process of restricting access, following Indonesia's lead due to concerns about content misuse by local users.

3. ​UK (Regulatory Warning / Partial Block) – Ofcom issued a stern warning; access to the image generation feature has begun to be restricted on several ISPs due to cybersecurity concerns.

4. ​France (Under Emergency Investigation) – Undertaking an emergency investigation through European Union regulations (DSA) with the threat of blocking if the guardrails feature is not fixed.

5. ​India (Under Review for Suspension) – The government is evaluating the option of a temporary block because Elon Musk's team is deemed uncooperative with national content security regulations.

6. ​European Union / EU (Formal Investigation) – Coordination of 27 member states for potential simultaneous blocking if xAI (Grok company) does not comply with digital content rules in the European region.
