iOS 18 will add swap detection that will identify "donor parts" and if there are "donor" parts in the smartphone, the phone will require the password of the Apple ID from which the parts were removed.
Experts are expecting an en masse lockout and advise users who have recently picked up a smartphone from repair to hold off on installing the update.
iOS 18 is released as early as 16 September.
