I am in the final year of my bachelor's degree. Do I need to submit any final year certificate in my CAT form?

No. You not need to submit any proof of your percentage nor submit any certificate in the CAT form.

Just your aggregate %age of the results declared so far

Final year certificate will be needed only at the time of admission.

How/ When do I apply for Non - IIM institutions like IIFT/ FMS/ MDI Gurgaon?

There will be a separate notifications for each of the individual Non - IIM institution. Once that notification is released, you will go to the website of that institution, fill their forms and pay the respective fees.

ONLY AFTER THAT would you be considered for that particular institution.

Is NMAT worth filling, considering the cost of form, ROI and primarily only 1 college being of benefit?

The real question here is how much sense of urgency do you have for an admission this year? The answer would differ from person to person

There are people who want to get an admission this year for sure. And they might end up regretting not having filled this - YES

There are people who just want an MBA degree for their business purposes and don't really care about the ROI - YES

There are people are from a working background and want to get a good degree to get a good head-start - Maybe

There are people who are already working and want a better profile - Maybe

There are people who are already working, earning really well and want a better pedigree - NO

There are people who don't want to go out of Delhi / Mumbai / state - Depends

Do faculties around India also write CAT every year? I have heard that some faculties register on the last date so they get Slot 3. Does their high percentile with no intention of joining any b school affects the students as they get low AIR?

1. Yes teachers also write the exam.

2. Nhn. They don't deliberately fill on last date. Its just that they decide around the last itself to write the paper

3. Filling first or last is not related to any slot. I have tried all the combinations and they are not related

4. I agree that the teachers getting 100 %ile might impact some students. But IIM guys also factor that in. Which why they call more students for the PI round that they would normally!

I had a terrible experience at my alloted center. I'm a repeater, so I've seen many centers last year as well. This was by far the worst center and exam taking experience I've ever had.

The landline phones kept ringing throughout the exam duration and no one would pick it up right away. They kept announcing multiple times on the loud speaker with high volume that one or two students did not start their exam yet. This is so disturbing to the students who already started their exam and are trying to concentrate. Especially since the first section is VARC and you're trying to read. They were breaking some 200 student's concentration to tell the staff to check on 1-2 people who did not start their exam. There has to be a better system than this.

Secondly, there's too many invigilators, for such a small exam hall. There's an internal lift right in the center of the exam hall, and a staircase around ithe lift well. It was one of those old lifts with two manual metal collapsible gates that we see in old buildings. The center had 4 floors and 4 exam halls, the staff kept moving between the floors the entire duration of the exam. Every single time, they would not close the lift door and there would be noise. The lift kept playing elevator music and asking to please close the door in 3 languages.

Completely broke my concentration during the exam. It was a constant source of noise, not just once or twice. It was at least 20-30 times in 2 hours. I kept reading and re-reading the same thing because I couldn't understand it due to the noise. I had an entire RC left with just 4 mins time. It was not enough time to start and complete a new RC and I completed all other questions in the section. Just 1-2 mins more, I could've gotten to all questions. Noise continued in the next two sections as well. The invigilators kept chatting away like they were at a picnic.

Minimum decency is to not to create disturbance in an exam center. It's unfair to the candidates who have been studying hard day and night for an entire year. After the exam when I was reading about the exam center experiences of other candidates on reddit, I saw that some people had pin drop silence after the exam started and absolutely no distractions. I wish I had a good experience too. This year is my second and last CAT attempt, it could've gone better if I had better center.

Late start, mouse problem
ION Digitial Zone, Kannur, New bus stand; Slot 1

The system turned off twice during the examination, once during VARC section and the other during Quants section. Took around 5-6mins to get restarted again. Although no time was lost, this was a bit irritating.

GITA Autonomous College, Khordha; Slot 1

Lots of chatter & noises while attempting paper. And the problem is they were not stopping for 10-15 minutes. I just put fingers in my ear and did the VARC section. After 20-30 minutes all was good. But after few minutes they started again. Very very pathetic experience. As I was unable to read the RC & VA options mindfully. It costed me 2-3 questions as the time was up.
Ion digital zone, hebbal, mysore; Slot 2

Washroom access not provided post registration and before the exam started.
