Tips for a Strong Resume:

1. Keep it concise (1 page)
2. Use a clean, professional font and maintain consistency in formatting
3. Utilize bullet points for easy readability
4. Quantify achievements where possible (use numbers and percentages)

Remember, your resume should be a snapshot of your professional journey, emphasizing your strengths and suitability for the position you're seeking.

I am attaching a format for CV. Use it in case you find it useful. One of the bachchas among you had shared their word file with me. I don't remember who it was but thanks.

Adjust the content based on your unique experiences and the job requirements.

Does the type of Work Experience matters in the B school process?

During admissions NO

During placement season YES. YES. YES

See when you fill your CAT form, they only consider the amount of experience. At that point BPO, Consulting or Accounting work experience all are same.

During interviews for admission is when they take deeper interest in your profile. A better type of work experience MIGHT fetch you couple of points more.

It is during the B school Summer and Final placements that the type of experience really matters. Which will decide the type of, or if, you get shortlists and final converts.

PS: This is excluding profile based shortlisted like S P Jain offers. Those are completely dependent on your type of work experience.

What’s the best time to fill the form to get a centre of my first preference?

There is no correlation to where you get your centre vis a vis when you fill the form. The slots and centres are randomly allocation figuring in your preferences.

Fill at your convenience. Just remember that if your centre is more than 100 km from your place of residence, plan to reach there a day before. Book a room. Relax. And be in the best state of mind before the exam.

For CAT registrations, can I use my last year's user id and password?

NO. You cannot use any previous years' User ID and Password and must generate a new one.

You can, however, use the same Email ID and/or mobile number you used in the previous year.

CAT does not store last year data

What work experience should I put in? Will internship be counted as a Work Experience? What if my work experience was along graduation?

Part-time/ Project/ Internship/ Articleship/ Pre-graduation work experience should not be entered and will not be counted as work experience.

Other than that, doesn’t matter what kind of work experience you have. As long as you have the supporting paperwork, for point allocation purpose, teaching in a school is same as working in an MNC

I am involved in the family business. Can I show it in CAT form? How do I do so?

Certainly, you can show it as work experience. That is, assuming, if your family business is a registered business. However, you need to:

A. Have an experience letter

B. Valid bank account statement and/or salary slips

C. Neither of the above two matters if you don’t have fundamental knowledge of the work that you are claiming to do. That will be the easiest way for me to assess whether you are telling the truth or not!

#CAT #CATFAQ #QuantSensei #Formfilling

I have a career gap before/ after graduation. How can I hide it?

You can’t and you shouldn’t. the good thing is that you are aware of a gap.

What was the reason for the gap? Illness? Plans fell through? Trying something else but didn’t work out? Create a storyline to justify your gap.

Courses, internships etc can justify the gaps. All said and done, you need to work out an explanation by the time you reach your interview stage. Because, rest assured, it will be asked!

#CAT #CATFAQ #QuantSensei #Formfilling

Where do I upload my CV points, certificates etc?

You don’t. There will be an appropriate time when the results are declared. At that time, the B schools will send a Performa for you to fill. Once you get a call from any specific B school, they will send a link to you where you would have to fill all such information like strength, weaknesses, role model etc

#CAT #CATFAQ #QuantSensei #Formfilling

I don’t have an updated EWS / Category certificate.

Upload whatever version you have. Just remember to download undertaking format from CAT website and fill it. Make a combined pdf of your category certificate and this undertaking and UPLOAD THAT with your application.

#CAT #CATFAQ #QuantSensei #Formfilling

What all courses should I select in CAT form?

As a thumb rule, fill all the PGDM courses. Fill FPM/ PhD courses only if you ready for a long-term commitment and are looking at teaching as career. Fill niche courses like HR/ Data Analytics only after a proper assessment of your interest areas. In case you aren’t really sure, fil them all

#CAT #CATFAQ #QuantSensei #Formfilling

Do I register for non – IIM institutions as well by clicking on the link on the landing page?

No. That link is for Non – IIM institutions to register themselves and pay to collect CAT scores for their selection process! So, unless you represent any MBA institution, that link is not for you!

#CAT #CATFAQ #QuantSensei #Formfilling

What’s the best time to fill the form?

I always recommend to do the registration early on. Go through the form with a fine-toothed comb and be sure about all the data that you are intending to fill in. Plan to pay on the last couple of day. The benefit is that when you register and don’t pay, you would get periodic reminder from the website to complete the payment option. Also, while you are at it, it would be a good idea to make a new Email ID which would be discarded after the entire process. This would ensure that your primary email ID remains SPAM free.

I filled my name incorrectly during registration. Any way that I can change that?

Name, Date of Birth, Mobile Number and Email Address cannot be changed once the registration is complete.
