rsync

A fast and extraordinarily versatile file copying tool for both remote and local files. Uses ssh or rsh for communication with remote systems - but can also be used locally to sync directories.

Rsync uses a delta-transfer algorithm which provides a very fast method for bringing remote files into sync. It does this by sending just the differences in the files across the link, without requiring that both sets of files are present at one of the ends of the link beforehand.

Kaitai Struct

A cross-language binary format parser API generator. Packed with tools and samples including a compiler, an IDE, a visualizer and massive library of popular formats.

The main idea is that a particular format is described in Kaitai Struct language (.ksy file) and then can be compiled with ksc into source files in one of the supported programming languages. These modules will include a generated code for a parser that can read described data structure from a file / stream and give access to it in a nice, easy-to-comprehend API.
