Hey, everyone! We're proud to show you an introduction to Cellframe!
In this article we discussed the new concept of t-dApps (true decentralized applications). What exactly are t-dapps and how they differ from Ethereum smart-contracts? Small announcement to make:
We're in the process of overhauling our payment processing functionality and various functionality.
To start free tier users are having their maximum pin time increased to 12 months up from 1.
We're also adding the ability for you to "remove pins" (this doesn't remove it immediately but schedules it for deletion). Removing pins does a partial refund of the remaining pin time minus a 72hr buffer to accommodate for a few things:
* data isn't removed immediately due to needing to schedule removals
* Unpinning and garbage collection is extremely inefficient and time consuming in IPFS so user initiated removals outside of pin timers expiring requires extra processing
* Prevent exploiting the system to get perpetual free storage and making it costly to attempt to DoS our IPFS nodes.
Once we get this system in place we'll then be working to change how we charge your accounts for data storage. Currently we charge for the entire storage period upfront to reserve the storage for your data for the specified.
We will be changing this to not charge you up front, and instead limit your uploads based on the amount of credits in your account. Your total data consumption will not be allowed to grow greater than what the credits in your account cover. Then at the end of the month we'll deduct the credits from your account. This will take sometime to fully implement since it represents a significant change to the codebase.
