Two Perspectives on Reality
In these two sessions, Rinpoche will explore the philosophical differences between Yogācāra (Mind-Only) and Dzogchen (Great Perfection), with particular emphasis on their distinct views of reality. Yogācāra explains experience in terms of consciousness and the absence of subject–object duality, presenting a gradual path of transforming mind into wisdom. Dzogchen, by contrast, points to primordial awareness (rigpa) as the already complete ground of reality, in which emptiness and luminosity are inseparable.
Through clarifying these perspectives, participants will gain deeper insight into two profound yet distinct approaches within Mahāyāna and Vajrayāna Buddhist philosophy.

🙏Next Sunday Teaching — Dzogchen Meditation: A Step-by-Step Introduction Through the Three Doors (Part 1 of 2)
In this session, I will introduce the meditation on the three doors of body, speech, and mind, along with an initial approach to the practice of Dzogchen, based on my personal experience. This will certainly benefit your meditation.

This teaching will be offered as a two-part series. It is important to attend Part 1 in order to follow Part 2, as I will cover essential foundations in the first session that you will need to understand and practice what follows. Without this basis, it will be difficult to benefit from the second part.
Without step-by-step guidance, many claims about Dzogchen meditation remain abstract or uncertain. If practiced incorrectly, it can become a habit that does not lead to genuine understanding. For this reason, I will guide you progressively, step by step, offering a clear and experiential approach.
This session is open to everyone who wishes to build a solid foundation in Dzogchen practice.
I look forward to practicing together. 🙏

After many years of struggle and a relentless and determined search to fill a spiritual void, at the age of 29, he encountered a book by Ajahn Chah and decided to seek out Wat Pah Nanachat, Thailand, with the intention of becoming a Buddhist monk. On the 5th December 2006, Ajahn ordained as novice monk. And finally, on the 6th July 2008, he became a fully ordained Bhikkhu. Both ordinations were granted by Luang Por Liem Thitadhammo, the present Abbot of Wat Nong Pah Pong, Thailand. Ajahn exudes great mindfulness and is an inspiration wherever he goes.

Our next Dharmachanics virtual retreat will be on Saturday, April 18th and Sunday, April 19th with Nyingma Dzogchen teacher Lama Dawai Gocha. Sessions both days will run from 9am to 3pm ET.
Suggested dāna for the retreat is $100. Please make your contribution directly to Lama Dawai at:

We’ll meet in the main dharma hall (password: stillness):
https://zoom.us/j/8413270649
All are welcomed.
Here's a short overview of the ‘Four Phases of Freedom’ retreat:
This retreat will consist of four 3-hour sessions over the weekend. Each session will focus on one of the four phases of freedom found in this particular Dzogchen approach. In the first phase we'll do pointing-out to the view, clear light awareness (trekchö/tögal). We'll be talking about the different ways pointing-out can be given and realized but also acknowledged.
In phase two we'll go over the ways a practitioner can familiarize with the view, sustaining the recognition and integrating all experiences. We'll introduce emptiness or insubstantiality and non-referentiality, as well as how that looks psychosomatically with psychic 'weights'. Here we'll also go over Dzogchen style compassion practices like tonglen, mantra, and dedication. Also, sky-gazing, light ray practices, and dream yoga will be discussed and short Dzogchen sessions with posture overview will be introduced, including tsa-lung (Tibetan Yantra Yoga) preliminaries (vase breathing, physical yoga etc). We'll do psychic 'weight' meditations so the practitioner can notice subtle incongruencies within evenness, discerning contractions within awareness. Also, effortlessness during the appearance of action and 'weight' during sleep will be introduced. Ultimately, we'll test and verify self-liberation so confidence can be reached.
The third phase will deal with pure effortlessness and Dzogchen samatha/vipassana, fully stabilizing in the view. How the 8 aspects of consciousness are liberating but also the five elements into the 5 wisdoms. We'll do practices incorporating non-meditation with body, speech, and mind. Here the primary texts, like Longchenpa's treasuries will be introduced. In order to ensure even subtle mental/emotional obscurations are brought to light, we will cover topics like super-ego, attachment to clarity and attachment to emptiness.
Lastly, we'll cover enlightenment. Using primary sources like the Treasuries, we'll talk about what freedom looks like. Discussing topics like atemporality and non-referentiality, how enlightenment is allowed to land on the practitioner, and natural compassion as the heart essence.
Everyone joining the retreat is invited to uphold vows/precepts for at least two days. We will be incorporating all 9 yānas culminating with atiyoga Dzogchen (9th yāna). Vows and precepts will be introduced and reviewed before the Dzogchen portion of retreat begins. Noble silence - meaning silence is maintained unless speaking is absolutely needed (jobs, partners, etc) but ideally your surrounding network will know and understand you are taking a vow of silence. The five precepts (also known as avoiding the 10 unwholesome actions) are taken for the duration of retreat. For the sexual misconduct precept we will take a vow of celibacy, including preservation of fluids. Practitioners are also invited to avoid garlic and onions as well as fires. People may take these vows/precepts before the retreat begins, starting as they wish. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Five_precepts https://www.rigpawiki.org/index.php?title=Ten_unwholesome_actions
We will also avoid the 14 root downfalls of Tantrayana (Anuyoga)
https://www.rigpawiki.org/index.php?title=Fourteen_root_downfalls
Physical yoga/breath work, Yantra Yoga (Tsa Lung) methods will also be introduced prior to the Dzogchen portion of retreat. Combined with Vajrasattva purification sadhana it will serve as Korde Rushen Dzogchen preliminaries
