Former Foreign Minister Bob Carr, finds it appropriate and natural for Indian and Chinese communities to recognise and vote their ethnic interests.

He felt no such concern for the ‘vast Anglo community’ when in 2012 he said, “With our heritage of White Australia and membership of the British Empire . . . it’s too risky for us even to glance in the direction of talk of an Anglosphere. It revives all those unfortunate recollections and associations”.

Why the double standard?

We’re pleased to see that tougher legislation is finally being proposed for the desecration of our War Memorials in Victoria.

We’ve built a comprehensive record and established a clear, undeniable pattern behind these attacks, helping to force this issue into the national conversation.

However, these protections MUST go beyond war memorials. Repeated attacks on our colonial monuments are targeted hate incidents against Anglo-Celtic Australians and their heritage. They must be treated with the same seriousness under the law.

We welcome any party willing to use this evidence and act on it.

These acts are likely being committed by a small networked group of ideologically-motivated people. VicPolice and the AFP should be investigating these events with a view to dismantling these networks, in line with their stated commitments to social cohesion.
