This new proposal has me in two minds.
In one way it is a great incentive as alot of young people are put off having children due to the expense.
On the other hand, will just anyone have children to claim the grant, then abuse or abandon the children once they receive their payout.
I would prefer a proposal of free childcare for all children under the age of 5, so mothers can go back for work when they choose without the worry of childcare costs.
Maybe grant's to purchase baby furniture and essentials etc.
Money isn't always the answer, I think practicality would work better.....
