Field Notes: At the Australian Signals Directorate yesterday, the Defense Minister warned that China may launch an "unprecedented digital onslaught" against Australia (or other countries such as the U.S.) which would "undoubtedly" lead to "injuries and deaths from a loss of essential services, pressure on systems, and panic." He emphasized that the warning wasn't just hypothetical saying that "some may think such a scenario could not be possible β that you would only read about it in a dystopian novel or see it unfold in a disaster movie. They are wrong.β
