β€œI fell in love with her courage, her sincerity, and her flaming self respect. And it's these things I'd believe in, even if the whole world indulged in wild suspicions that she wasn't all she should be. I love her and it is the beginning of everything.”

JK Rowling says she was bullied off a Harry Potter forum she joined under a pseudonym.

JK Rowling has said she was bullied off a Harry Potter forum by fans who had no idea who she really was.

The author of the wizarding franchise entered a chatroom at the turn of the millenium anonymously while she was writing the fourth book in the series, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Speaking on the podcast The Witch Trials of JK Rowling, she said: β€œI chose a random name that was not a Potter related name, as I was almost scared that I would somehow self-reveal.”

Rowling said she shared a β€œvery bland” opinion about Harry Potter and β€œgot rounded on by users who told me in no uncertain terms to get out”.

The author said she was told that she wasn’t β€œfamiliar in that room, and that I’m clearly an idiot who doesn’t know anything”.

β€œMockingbirds don’t do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don’t eat up people’s gardens, don’t nest in corn cribs, they don’t do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That’s why it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.”
