Telegram User Identification via Facial Recognition

Users on Telegram’s test server have discovered an officially verified bot that scans faces using the camera — likely for identity verification purposes.

This bot’s development is presumably linked to a law that will soon take effect in the United Kingdom. The law requires websites and apps distributing adult content to verify the age of users seeking access to such material.

The @tginfo editorial team firmly believes that no identity verification requirements will be introduced for users outside the UK in the near future.

If you are wondering why there is a reduction in what is posted. It's summer. News cycles for Technology slow down. This picks back up later in the fall. Our most used sources have also fallen. A third of the list used has stopped posting since 2024.

For the time being we will try and do our best to keep you informed about the FOSS/Linux ecosystem.

Extensions can be a bigger problem than they solve. Careful which ones you use and keep them up to date. The Chrome Web Store is no go, but many still like extensions for Librewolf/Firefox family of browsers. Keep in mind they add attack surface to the browser so weigh use carefully.

In the chat we had a discussion about why AI needs to be managed properly. Dependence will cause us to lose our ability to problem solve, use discernment and critically think. Think of the humans from the Pixar movie Wall-E. That will become us.

The headline is misleading. Wattage does matter what matters less is the 80 plus bronze rating and other efficiency measures. Good chart in the article shows why.

An underrated aspect of purchasing a laptop. One in which I wish I had paid more attention to with my last purchase. Sometimes you get what you pay for with a cheaper laptop. If you work on it a lot or write, then you probably need to make sure it's good quality. Replacing a laptop keyboard can be a pain in the rear.

Some decent thoughts but not the end all be all. Linux has a learning curve. About 3 to 4 months but after a bit it will feel like home.
