This has been a long time coming and needed. If you don't know what HDR is modern TVs and monitors are equipped with this to increase the range of colors that can be displayed. GNOME has been sorely lacking on this feature as Plasma has at least been integrating it in bits and pieces.

Something we often don't think about. Most of our use cases will just involve ext4 for our filesystem but when should you use something else?

If you use VLC player and encounter issues with "seek bar", "seeking with FF" or using the "Chapter buttons" causing VLC to Crash. disable "Hardware-accelerated decoding". Close and relaunch VLC and you should now be able to "seek" again. There is a bug that has not been worked around in the latest Intel video codecs. HTH

On Linux we generally smirk at these complaints as one of the things we have is the power of choice. The freedom to choose how our system looks and functions is entirely up to us.

This is a positive trend. Games aren't the only thing that are produced as shovelware many phone apps are like this too.

What's really at play behind 'early access' is a lack of a proper production budget that floods a market with substandard products. Knock offs of popular apps and games just for the purposes of fleecing uninformed consumers. Valve called it early access, in app stores on phones we have no such warning.

Sometimes you have to use what you have to use. For school and work people are often forced to use Windows. When the choice is yours there is a better one.
