"When using Windows in the past I have had this problem on almost every version of windows I ever used. Networking on Linux, I have not encountered this problem once. It just knows what to do and does it properly.

Windows uses only 4 layers of the 7 layer OSI network model. Why they chose to do this no idea. Also a question to ask is why Windows network connections pass so much data compared to Linux.

I suspect this is why Windows networking is often unreliable without a dhcp server on a home network, also because each computer ip address likely wants to default to the same number. For your average computer user it's an annoyance to have to reset your internet connection so often. The solution is to ditch half baked software like Windows."
