Last week Ronda announced their new caliber R01, and it's a very interesting one. It has quite some premium features: free-sprung balance (which is usually reserved for really high end movements), full silicon hairspring, and a new grade called "COSC Excellence" with -2 to +4 seconds/day accuracy adjusted to 6 positions. Pricing information isn't available yet, but free sprung balance and the new grade hint towards higher end market (probably $3-5k) where in-house movements are currently almost a must for a good value proposition (think about brands like Nomos, CW, and Yema). This means mainstream brands might be hesitant to use it at first, but there's a huge potential and market if R01 can prove itself.

All I hope is that it doesn't become another commercial failure like Ronda R150 was.
