Bloomberg analyst Rob Du Boff estimates that passive S&P 500 funds alone may need to buy roughly 19% of public SpaceX shares within six months under a fast-track index inclusion scenario.
If SpaceX enters the S&P 500 as the 6th-largest company, additional buying from Russell 1000 and Nasdaq 100 index funds, alongside active managers benchmarked to those indices, could ultimately absorb nearly HALF of the company’s public float.
