@Bybit, a major #crypto exchange, has been #hacked, resulting in the theft of $1.4 billion in #Ethereum ($ETH, $stETH), with blockchain investigator #ZachXBT linking the attack to North Korea’s Lazarus Group. The hack caused #Ethereum’s price to drop by 4.5%.

Bybit’s CEO confirmed the breach but assured users that the exchange remains solvent and all client assets are still 1:1 backed. However, the platform has experienced massive withdrawals, leading #Bybit to take loans to cover them. The CEO acknowledged that “everyone is affected” and admitted that withdrawing #Ethereum is currently difficult.

Despite concerns of a potential bank run, Bybit maintains that it has enough tokens to cover withdrawals.
