Catch me at the corner of Charmander Lane and Jigglypuff Place Imagine writing a letter, doing some online shopping, or filling out a form and getting to write a street name that was also the name of a Pokémon. For the new residents of Serenity Place, a neighborhood in Henderson, Nevada, that dream will be a reality. Every street in this new development from Harmony Homes will be named after Pokémon. Street names include famous Generation 1 pocket monsters like Jigglypuff, Squirtle, Snorlax, Charmander, and Charizard.
Construction has been booming in the Las Vegas valley, leading to the unique challenge of coming up with names for new streets. “It’s really, really hard to name streets in this town,” Andrea Miller, a construction manager at Harmony Homes LLC told KLAS 8 News NOW (Channel 8 in Las Vegas). In order to create street names, a developer must figure out the number of streets and then submit double that number of names, so that they may pass jurisdiction to determine whether they’ve already been used (among other concerns), Miller explained.

Apparently Miller’s 11-year-old and 14-year-old sons, who are “obsessed with Pokémon,” gave her the idea, she said. And luckily there are tons of Pokémon to choose from.
Polygon was able to find the development on Google Street View, finding images of Snorlax Lane and Squirtle Lane. Jigglypuff Place was there on the map, but sadly there were no Street View images of it, as of yet. Jigglypuff Place is the main thoroughfare of this new development, because it’s her kids’ favorite Pokémon.
“When I hear Jigglypuff, I giggle,” Miller told KLAS 8 News NOW. “When you’re coming home from work and you had a bad day and you have to turn on Jigglypuff Lane, that will make you smile.”

 Fast X is a box office hit, just not in the U.S.

The Fast Family continues to be a global hit The Fast and Furious franchise continues to be a global phenomenon, just not as much as you might think in the United States. Fast X, the latest movie in the franchise and the first part of the series’ finale, debuted in the U.S. on May 19 and was met with tepid reception at the box office, with just $67.5 million over the opening weekend. But, the rest of the world met the Fast Family’s latest adventure with open arms, pushing it to a massive $319 million opening worldwide.
While the domestic opening wasn’t so impressive, putting it fifth for the year behind the Mario movie, both new Marvel movies, and John Wick 4, the international opening is a whole different story. The $319 million total internationally makes Fast X the second biggest opening of the year, behind only the Mario movie’s massive $377 million.
As much as the Fast and Furious franchise is seen as a guaranteed blockbuster with every new entry, this trend toward the international rather than domestic box office isn’t too surprising. These movies have always been bigger hits overseas, and with the major exception of Furious 7, the final movie with Paul Walker, the series’ recent entries have tended to overperform outside the United States.
One thing that remains a little unclear is exactly how many Fast movies are left in the franchise. While we know that Fast X is technically the first part of the finale, we don’t know if it will be wrapped up with just one more entry, or if Fast X will be a trilogy. With the next movie not set to release until sometime in 2025, it’s likely there isn’t a real answer to this question for a while, and it instead depends on how this one performs at the box office. If Fast X continues to do well, either in the U.S. or overseas, it’s likely we could have two more Fast and Furious movies left before the series is over. If the week two drop is massive, though, it’s possible the series could end after Fast X Part Two.

 Amouranth launches AI chatbot that lets fans go on ‘dates’ with ‘her’

A new parasocial relationship just dropped The movie Her came out nearly 10 years ago, and yet the technology featured in it — namely an artificial intelligence “girlfriend” that you can access from your phone — feels on the cusp of being realized. On May 19, high profile Twitch star and OnlyFans creator Kaitlyn Siragusa, known as Amouranth, released an AI companion bot that fans can interact with.
Powered by AI company Forever Voices, the chatbot appears to allow fans to send vocal recordings, and receive a response that — thanks to artificial intelligence technology — sounds like Amouranth is responding via voice note.
“With AI Amouranth, fans will receive instant voice responses to any burning question they may have,” a press release about AI Amouranth, shared with Dexerto, said. “Whether it’s a fleeting curiosity or a profound desire, Amouranth’s AI counterpart will be right there to provide assistance.”
In the press release obtained by Dexerto, Amouranth said: “I thrive ontaking [sic] risks and pushing boundaries. Above all, I prioritize being there for my incredible audience. AI Amouranth is designed to satisfy the needs of every fan, ensuring an unforgettable and all-encompassing experience.” Polygon has reached out to Amouranth, and will update this article if she responds.
On the website for the AI Amouranth chatbot, a video shows off a hypothetical (NSFW) interaction in which a man named John interacts with a likeness of her. The AI Amouranth describes getting dressed after a “sweaty” workout, and going on a date with John. Pretty standard sexy chatbot stuff.

The bot is part of the emerging influencer AI scene, and is powered by Forever Voices AI, a company that gives paid customers access to the likenesses of influencers — in other words, you can pay to have a conversation with an AI “version” of an influencer. In a video interview with Bloomberg, shared via tweet announcing AI Amouranth John Meyer, CEO and founder of Forever Voices, shared details about the company. He said he first used the technology out of a desire to have interactions again with his late father.
It wasn’t long until the company found a way to monetize the AI technology. Meyer, in the interview, said the technology made it seem as if the AI influencers had “immersed, deep personalities,” and likened the interactions to “connecting with you on a deep level.” He also

talked about how it can be used to give fans more access to their favorite influencer. Amouranth is one of the first high profile influencers to buy into the technology, following CarynAI — marketed as an AI “girlfriend” — a ChatGPT powered bot that gives customers the ability to “date” influencer Caryn Marjorie.
I’m sure I’m far from the first person to have made the comparison to Spike Jonze’s Her, as the idea of an AI girlfriend is simply the concept of the film. And I don’t doubt the idea that a person could grow incredibly attached to such an AI — after all, parasocial relationships are a cornerstone of fan engagement with celebrities.
But the reality of how these technologies are being used is far less romantic. In January 2022, Futurism reported that Replika (a chatbot app) users were creating fake girlfriends and verbally berating them. At the other end of the spectrum, you have people using generative AI to make deepfake porn using the likeness of popular influencers. It’s not hard to think about how this might get used. Polygon was not able to locate a terms of service page on the website for the company’s app Forever Companion. Polygon has also reached out to John Meyer for comment and will update this article if he responds.

The most enjoyable aspect of Tears of the Kingdom for me right now isn’t so much my own adventures in the game. It’s watching other people far more creative and patient than I am craft the most ridiculous mind-, physics-, and decency-bending machines ever made in a video game. We’re already seeing players craft fire-spouting robots, elaborate murder contraptions that would make Wile E. Coyote exceedingly jealous, and, more wholesomely, horse car washes and baby swings.

I have to include at least one wholesome use of Link’s awesome and terrible powers. One of the little things I appreciate about Tears of the Kingdom is that when you use your powers around normal folk, they, very correctly, freak the hell out. Even the steward constructs, who would have seen King Rauru use these same powers, exclaim, “Your actions are threatening, I must protect myself,” before curling up into their shells

whenever Link busts out the Ultrahand. Everyone in Hyrule has correctly assessed that no matter how nice he seems, how sweetly he plays with kids, or how he meddles in local elections, Link’s a walking weapon of mass destruction and must be guarded against at all times.

What’s startling to me here isn’t so much the torture prison but the sheer cost of building something like this. Every one of those bright green materials costs zonaite to create — they’re not cheap, and zonaite is not that plentiful — requiring serious time in The Depths to amass the amount needed to build such a thing. That kind of dedication is more impressive than the number of Geneva Conventions violations on display. These fan-made contraptions have also brought into focus how quaint Nintendo’s Talus-battler was in Tears’ promotional materials. There’s Link on his pathetic little machine, and he only has a measly two canons? No bombs? No flamethrowers? Lol, lmao.
One thing concerning the sheer expense it takes to create some of these machines is that players have already found several item duplication glitches. So if you want to go apeshit with crafting, you won’t have to sacrifice precious zonai charges or machines or go full John Wick in The Depths to get the materials you need. One item duplication glitch works by quickly swapping out the items fused to Link’s arrows, but that’s the slow and very finicky way. A more recently discovered method is much easier, requiring only a short height from which to paraglide, the item you want to replicate in the last spot in your inventory, and a single additional item.
The latest update hasn’t patched these glitches out, so now’s the time to dupe as many diamonds as you can — Hyrule’s expensive, and Link’s job as a freelance journalist doesn’t pay too much.
