True retail long% is 35.4% (which is the 6th percentile). 24 hours ago it was 38.1%. In other words, only ~35% of retail accounts are in a net long position.

Long% can decrease in three ways:
1. longs enter, shorts enter (but shorts enter at a higher rate)
2. longs exit, shorts exit (but longs exit at a higher rate)
3. longs exit, shorts enter (self-explanatory)

If open interest is increasing (which it is), it means longs and shorts entering (which is option1). OI is in the 99th percentile right now and increase by ~0.5b over the last 24h.

So the 24h OI delta of +0.5b coupled with the 2.7% decrease in long% indicates retail longs and shorts are likely both entering but shorts are entering at a higher rate, fueling this move up.

This move likely continues going up until retail long% starts to reverse and move back up (trapping longs).
