Electronic Cash Without a Trusted Third Party
August 22, 2008 by bitcoincash

The following paper is an pre-release draft of the Bitcoin White Paper by Satoshi Nakamoto. The draft was sent to Wei Dai in a private email. It’s notable because the title is “Electronic Cash…” and it features several relatively small differences in language which have been highlighted by NSI.

"In Section 9 of the Bitcoin white paper, Dr. Wright, then going by Satoshi Nakamoto, defined the notion of a new privacy model that would be a great improvement on the traditional model. In the traditional banking model, transacting parties have to share personally identifiable information with third parties. However, with Bitcoin, the parties can keep the public keys anonymous outside of those who require knowledge of the transaction."

"The second question is easier to answer; I wrote the White Paper. There
were some bits and pieces included which I had help with, and I had help
with editing. But the White Paper is essentially my work. The matter of
Satoshi being an individual or a group is a little more complex. Satoshi
was a public persona I adopted, a part that I played. Yet even though I
would say Satoshi was ninety percent me, other people helped, other
people shaped the creation."
