The Neptun Deep project is the cornerstone of Romania’s strategy to become the EU’s largest natural gas producer and a key player in Europe's energy independence. Managed by OMV Petrom and Romgaz, the project is currently in the execution phase.

* Drilling Operations: Production drilling is underway using the Transocean Barents rig. The project focuses on two main fields: Domino and Pelican South.
* The Tuzla Hub: Tuzla is the critical landfall point. A micro-tunnel has been constructed to bring the subsea pipeline ashore without disturbing the beach, leading to a dedicated gas metering station in the area.
* Infrastructure: The Tuzla-Podișor pipeline is being finalized to connect Black Sea gas to the national grid and the BRUA corridor, allowing exports to neighboring countries like Moldova, Hungary, and Austria.
* Production Start: The project is on track for "first gas" in 2027, with an estimated peak output of 8 billion cubic meters annually.
