The first quarterly burn of 2023, and twenty-second burn ever, of BNB happened this past week on January 17th. About 2.06 million BNB were burned.

A burn is conducted every quarter as part of the process of bringing down the supply of BNB from its initial 200 million total supply to only 100 million, a commitment which was made back in 2017.

BNB is also burned through transaction fees on BNB chain which assist in this supply depletion, albeit at a slower rate. The total supply of BNB is now about 158 million.
