Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney, speaking during a visit to an Ontario manufacturing facility on September 3, called U.S. tariffs on Canada a “misjudgment” following the recent collapse of bilateral trade talks. He said Canada had made the right decision and has the resources to build an ideal country while protecting its cultural industries and maintaining sovereign authority over trade negotiations. Carney said Canada is ready to resume talks when the U.S. is prepared, but any deal must be stable and credible.
