Comprehensive Prelims in 7 steps

Step 1. Solve PYQs
Go subject wise. Take a subject and Solve PYQs of it in action mode from year 2013-2022 (atleast).
Make a diary and Note down only those pyqs which you mark wrong.

Step 2. NCERT
Cover all NCERTs 6-12 cover to cover, line by line. Understand that 50-60 questions are directly or indirectly coming from NCERTs only.
While reading NCERTs and Reference book, keep that pyqs diary along with you and give more focus on that topic which you marked wrong earlier.

Step 3. Read reference book
Read only single reference source for single TOPIC. Eg within Geography you can refer ncert for most of topics, corals from shankar ias, world climatic region from GC Leong, and picture from pmfias. You can refer multiple book within a subject, but don't refer multiple books for same topic. Take a single source for single topic.

Step 4. Solve PYQs
Again solve pyqs and try to check where you are lacking after reading ncerts and reference books.

Step 5. Sectional Tests
Solve sectional test only for Polity, Economy, Modern history, Geography and Environment. While analysing it, check such type of question you are making wrong.

Step 6. Revision
Revision of NCERTs, Reference books, wrongly marked pyqs and wrongly attempted sectional test.

Step 7. Full Length Test
You must have started solving FLTs in mid of March. This should be treated as net practice. Solve it as you are solving PRELIMS2024 paper in exam hall.

Always remember multiple Revision and pyqs for prelims will only make you to the mains pdf.

You can refer any standard sources for prelims, but I have shared you the essential sources and required ncerts that you must read.

For Test Analysis

See, ek toh sirf Modern Hist, Geo, Pol, Eco, Env, inn 5 subjects ke hi sectional dena, aur (Quality) FLTs bhar bhar ke dena, alag alag Institute ke.

Try krna ki har ek paper 10 mins beforehand complete ho.

Jab tum itne saare test doge toh no doubt ki almost 50% questions repeat hi honge, okay ?
Toh fir Test ka analysis krte waqt jo ques correct mark kiye hai unke solution padhna completely skip kr do, kyu ki agar ye ques yahape correct mark kiye hai, bhale hi tukke se hi sahi, toh dont worry prelims me bhi ye ques correct hi mark karoge. Aur inka tension bhi naa lena kyu ki 50% ques repeat honge hi next test me, toh agar waha incorrect mark kr diya toh fir uss waqt toh uska solution padhna hi hai, so simply skip those ques which you marked correctly...
And relax.

Solution sirf unhi ques ke padhna jo ques galat mark kiye hai. And solution most of the time static se hi copy paste kiya jata hai, toh padhte waqt bhi dhyaan rahe ki galat kiye huye static ques apne static book se hi padho, ussi waqt yaa baadme, but static se hi padhna. Aur sirf jo jo EXTRA points mile solution se, sirf aur sirf yahi points apne ques booklet me add kr ke rakhna. Fir solution booklet ka koi kaam nhi, faad ke fek dena usse.

In the end, ye jo tumhara que booklet hoga wahi bss revise krna hota hai, woh bhi sirf wahi points jo tumhe easily yaad naa ho,

Remember one thing, Test is neither for knowledge addition, nor any single que will come from such test.
Test is just to prepare your skillset according to pattern of ques and that even within 2 hrs timeframe. Test is just to rectify your mistakes, if any, in studying syllabus.

Don't expect much from test and don't rely more on it.
Always remember,
'PYQs' is the key to prelims

Views are strictly personal, may vary person to person.

Best wishes ❤️
