May Allāh Make Our Last Words; Laa Ilaaha Illallaah

قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : لقنوا موتاكم : لا إله إلا الله فإن نفس المؤمن تخرج رشحا ونفس الكافر تخرج من شدقه كما تخرج نفس الحمار.

The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: “Instruct your dying ones to say Lā Ilāha Illallāh (None is worthy of worship except Allāh) for indeed the soul of a believer is taken out through sweating and the soul of a disbeliever is taken out through the corner of his mouth just like the soul of a donkey is taken out.”

‎﴾وَأَمَّا ٱلسَّآٮِٕلَ فَلَا تَنۡہَرۡ﴿

Translation: And repulse not the one who asks.

This means: Respond to the poor with mercy and gentleness.

Translation: Therefore, treat not the orphan with oppression.

This means: Just as you (Muhammad) were an orphan and Allaah sheltered you, then do not oppress the orphan.

فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ۬﴿

In their hearts is a disease.

﴾وَقَرْنَ فِى بُيُوتِكُنَّ﴿

Translation: And stay in your houses.

This means: (Women should) not come out except for a purpose. One of the purposes mentioned in Shari`ah is prayer in the Masjid.

They took them as Lords.

‎﴾ ٱتَّخَذُوٓاْ أَحۡبَارَهُمۡ وَرُهۡبَـٰنَهُمۡ أَرۡبَابً۬ا مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ﴿

They (Christians/Jews) took their rabbis and monks as lords besides Allaah.

A man wearing a cross named ‘Adi b. Hatim heard the Prophet recite this and he said that they did not worship them.

‎« بَلَى إِنَّهُمْ حَرَّمُوا عَلَيْهِمُ الْحَلَالَ وَأَحَلُّوا لَهُمُ الْحَرَامَ فَاتَّبَعُوهُمْ فَذَلِكَ عِبَادَتُهُمْ إِيَّاهُم »

The Prophet replied: Yes they did. They (rabbis and monks) made the halaal things haraam for them (Christians and Jews) and made the haraam things halaal, and they obeyed them. This is how they worshipped them.

Ibn al-Qayyim said: 

"If you knew the true value of yourself, you would never allow yourself to be humiliated by committing sins.

When Iblīs refused to bow to your father 'Adam, he refused to bow to you, so why have you become his friend and left us?

If there was any love in your heart, it's effect would appear on your body."

‎﴾وَلَا تَبَرَّجۡنَ تَبَرُّجَ ٱلۡجَـٰهِلِيَّةِ ٱلۡأُولَىٰۖ﴿ 

… And do not Tabarruj yourselves like the Tabarruj of the times of ignorance.

Muqatil b. Hayyan said: “Tabarruj is when a woman puts a Khimar (cover) on her head but does not tie it properly.”

So her necklaces, earrings and neck, and all of that can be seen.

‎﴾فَلَا تَخۡضَعۡنَ بِٱلۡقَوۡلِ﴿

Translation: And do not be soft in speech.

As-Suddi and others: This means (women should) not be gentle in speech when addressing men.

Seeking refuge from sexual desires:

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ سَمْعِي وَمِنْ شَرِّ بَصَرِي وَمِنْ شَرِّ لِسَانِي وَمِنْ شَرِّ قَلْبِي وَمِنْ شَرِّ مَنِيِّي

O Allaah, I seek refuge in you from the evil of what I hear, from the evil of what I see, from the evil of what I speak, from the evil of what I think, and from the evil of my sperm.

al-Iraqi commented on this: If the Prophet himself sought refuge from lust, then who after him can take this matter lightly?
