Imām Ibn al-Qayyim

“Shaving the head of a newborn (on the seventh day) removes the harm from him, and the removal of weak hair so that stronger hair replaces it, which is firmer than what was there before, and it is beneficial for one’s head. Alongwith it there is relief for the child, and opening of the pores in the scalp so that the unpleasant vapour may escape with ease and smoothness. And in that is the strengthening of his eyesight, his nasal passage and his hearing.”

Punishment Of Sins

Ibn Taymiyyah: “And that which Allāh has made as a punishment for the sins of people is: removal of guidance and beneficial knowledge.”

Du’a Ibn Hanbal used to make in Sujud:

"O’ Allaah, whoever from this Ummah is not upon the truth, but thinks he is upon the truth, then bring him back to the truth so that he becomes from the people of truth."

Translation: But if they strive with you to make you join in worship with Me others that of which you have no knowledge, then obey them not.

Sa`d b. Malik: This was revealed concerning me.

I was a man who honored his mother, but when I became Muslim, she said:“O’ Sa`d! What is this new thing I see you upon? Leave this religion of yours, or I will not eat or drink until I die, and people will say: Shame on you, for what you have done to me, and they will say that you have killed your mother.”

I said: “Do not do that, O’ mother, for I will not give up this religion of mine for anything.”

She stayed without eating for one day and one night, and she became exhausted; then she stayed for another day and night without eating, and she became utterly exhausted.

When I saw that, I said: “O’ my mother, by Allaah, even if you had one hundred souls and they were to depart one by one, I would not give up this religion of mine for anything, so if you want to, eat, and if you want to, do not eat.”

So she ate.

● {تفسير ابن كثير ٣١:١٥}
The day Imam Malik laughed.

We were with Malik while he was surrounded by his companions, when a man belonging to the people of Nasibin said: “There is a group of people among us called Sufis. They eat excessively, then they begin to sing, and then they get up and dance.”

Malik asked him: “Are they children?”

The man replied: “No.”

Malik asked: “Are they insane?”

The man replied: “No. They are a group of mashayikh [religious scholars] and other intelligent people.”

Malik replied: “I have never heard of anyone from the people of Islam doing such a thing.”

The man said: “But these people eat, and then get up and dance tirelessly, some of them striking their heads, and some striking their faces.”

Hearing this, Malik laughed, then rose and went inside his house.

The companions of Malik said to the man: “Verily you have brought bad omen to our companion. We have been in his company for more than thirty years, and we never saw him laugh until this day.”

Taqwā Is Success

Some of the Salaf (Raḥimahumullāh) said: “The one who fears Allāh, he is feared by everything and the one who does not fear Allāh, he is (made to) fear everything.”

They took them as Lords.

They (Christians/Jews) took their rabbis and monks as lords besides Allaah.
A man wearing a cross named ‘Adi b. Hatim heard the Prophet recite this and he said that they did not worship them.

« بَلَى إِنَّهُمْ حَرَّمُوا عَلَيْهِمُ الْحَلَالَ وَأَحَلُّوا لَهُمُ الْحَرَامَ فَاتَّبَعُوهُمْ فَذَلِكَ عِبَادَتُهُمْ إِيَّاهُم »

The Prophet replied: Yes they did. They (rabbis and monks) made the halaal things haraam for them (Christians and Jews) and made the haraam things halaal, and they obeyed them. This is how they worshipped them.
