๐ณ๐ฎ๐ฉ๐ฅโ๏ธ โ Ortega cancels more than three thousand Holy Week processions in Nicaragua; dictator maintains war against the Catholic Church and professes persecution of faithful and parishes that insist on promoting traditional street celebrations.
In the latest chapter of the Daniel Ortega regime's history of persecution of the Catholic Church are this year's Holy Week processions. More than 3,000 street celebrations have been banned, reckons lawyer and researcher Martha Molina, author of the book Nicaragua: a persecuted Church?โ.
Celebrations are allowed only inside temples, in a country where 60% of the population expresses the Catholic faith. The best-known churches remain guarded by regime agents.
In a tragic year for Catholics, Ortega ruled that Holy Week would take place without street celebrations, which the Nicaraguan Center for Human Rights said represented yet another clear violation of freedom of religion and expression.

โ " Tension with China has escalated under Taiwan's government and the island will in future have to choose between "peace and war", former Taiwan President Ma Ying-jeou said on Friday at the end of a landmark visit to China.
Ma is the first former Taiwanese president to ever visit China. Since the defeated Republic of China government fled to Taiwan in 1949 after losing a civil war to Mao Zedong's communists, no serving island leader has visited China.
"Our administration continues to lead Taiwan to danger. The future is a choice between peace and war," Ma told reporters at Taiwan's main airport after arriving from Shanghai at the end of his 12-day visit to China."

โ "Israel has once again become a target for hackers as the country experiences a surge in cyberattacks against key agenciesโ websites, including those of airlines, transportation, postal, and irrigation systems.
On Sunday, the countryโs irrigation systems were hit by a cyberattack, causing several water monitors to malfunction. These monitors are responsible for monitoring irrigation and wastewater treatment systems in areas such as the Hula Valley, the Jordan Valley, and the Galil Sewage Corporationโs control systems.
After being hacked, the controllers displayed a message that said, โYou have been hacked, Down with Israel.โ As a result, at least ten farmers were impacted, and scheduled watering was halted."
