"⚡️The UN called on Israel to leave the Golan Heights⚡️

The resolution was introduced by representatives of Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, the UAE and Syria. The document refers to the Golan Heights as “Israeli-occupied” territory.

Representatives of ninety-one countries, including Russia and China, voted in support of the resolution. Eight countries, including the United States and Great Britain, opposed it. Delegations from sixty-two countries, including Ukraine, chose to abstain.

However, Israeli permanent representative Gilad Erdan, after the adoption of the resolution, expressed absolute disagreement with such a UN decision: “We fundamentally disagree with its wording and are not going to implement this resolution in principle. It became yet another confirmation that the UN is currently incapable of making any adequate decisions related to Israel.”

The Golan Heights are disputed territory between Syria and Israel. From 1944 to 1967, the Golan was controlled by Syria, but as a result of the Six Day War, the territory was ceded to Israel. The inclusion of the Golan Heights into the Jewish state was not recognized by the international community."

According to the Russian sources, Russian Federation Tricolor flag was installed on the outermost building of the outermost street of the settlement.

This, so to speak, marks an unprecedented episode since 2014: Maryinka, a Ukrainian position fortified since the Donbass Civil War, fell into the hands of the Russians and their separatist allies.

Some Russian sources however tend to be more "down to earth" and claim that the city itself is still contested, but that Russian Federation Forces are advancing further and further.

In any case, the fall of Marinka (or whatever remains of the city) marks another, albeit symbolic, chapter of the Russo-Ukrainian War.
