🇺🇸💸📉❗️📰 Bloomberg: Republican Debt-Ceiling Negotiators Walk Out of Meeting, Say White House ‘Unreasonable’

— "House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s top debt-ceiling negotiators abruptly left a closed-door meeting with White House representatives soon after it began Friday morning.

“Look, they’re just unreasonable,” Republican Representative Garret Graves said, adding that the talks were on a “pause.”

Graves said he did not know if the negotiators would meet again Friday or over the weekend.

“Unless they are willing to have reasonable conversations about how you can actually move forward and do the right thing, we’re not going to sit here and talk to ourselves,” Graves said, as House Financial Services Committee Chairman Patrick McHenry stood near him."

🇺🇸🇳🇬 Blinken's call to Nigerian president-elect criticised by opposition

The runner-up in the February presidential elections in Nigeria has criticised US Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s call to President-elect Bola Tinubu as “demoralising”.

Atiku Abubakar said the call was an “acknowledgement of a fraudulent election”. Abubakar, who is a former Nigerian vice-president, said he was “in disbelief” over the call, which he said was a contradiction of US’s publicly stated position on the election. He said it was “inconceivable” that the US, which was well briefed on the “sham election” was giving legitimacy to it.

Blinken on Tuesday said he had spoken to Tinubu to “emphasize his continued commitment to further strengthen the US-Nigeria relationship with the incoming administration”. He noted that the relations built on shared interests and people ties “should continue to strengthen under President-elect Tinubu’s tenure”.

"They expected us to hand them Kosovo on a platter. [...] Just don't make us accept you when you make mistakes to our detriment. We have no choice, we are a small country, but we have one quality, which is to protect our own and not ask for anything else. [...] Serbia is everything in the world to me. I won't give them Kosovo."
