๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐ŸŒพ People often ask if there are any agricultural activities in Orania.

The short answer is: very definitely! In Orania, among other things, the following are grown: corn, wheat, alfalfa, pecans, almonds, and olives.

Initiatives such as Bo-Karoo Training's experimental farm, together with the qualification in Farm Management that is offered, also contribute greatly to making agriculture flourish.

Although the region has a semi-arid climate with relatively low precipitation levels, Orania's location along the Orange River together with proper water management practices provides a sustainable source of water for irrigation.

๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿšข Just in time to go through South Africa's ports that the ANC government has run into a nightmarish state of chaos and disfunction.

๐Ÿ”ธThe container backlog at our 3 major ports stood at 100 000 at the beginning of December.

๐Ÿ”ธThe congestion crisis at South Africaโ€™s state-run ports has resulted in cargo ships having to wait 215+ hours at Port Nqura and 32 hours to enter Port Elizabeth port. Meanwhile, the wait to enter the Durban port stood at 227+ hours at the end of Nov.

๐Ÿ”ธAccording to the state-owned enterprise in charge of South Africa's ports, Transnet, this severe shipping backlog will only be cleared by February or March 2024.

๐Ÿ”ธThe situation has become so dire that the CEO of Transnet described it as "Rome is burning"

๐Ÿ”ธโ€œThe average South African [doesn't] realise what a complete and utter catastrophe Transnet is. It is way worse than Eskom (state-run power monopoly)"

๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿšข Bad for business โ€“ government drops the maritime ball

The general volume of vessels and the sharp increase in maritime traffic around the Cape of Good Hope are both serving to underscore the notion that the Department of Transport (DoT), Treasury and the South African Revenue Service (Sars) are responsible for neglecting the local ocean trade industry.

According to Unathi Sonti, executive chairperson of the Maritime Business Chamber (MBC), about 13,000 vessels call at local ports every year, while more than twice that number sail around South Africa on east-west voyages.

Add to that the 53% increase in traffic around our shores since December due to liners avoiding the military conflict south of the Suez Canal, and the local maritime business could be booming because of the countryโ€™s strategic location.

Unfortunately, the poor planning and consistent underperformance in evidence at South African ports have, for now, put paid to any hopes of maximising the profit potential created by the current supply chain upheaval in the Red Sea.

๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆโœˆ๏ธโ—๏ธ โ€” Earlier today, January 24, 2024 AD, it was reported that a Russian Federation IL-76 cargo plane crashed at the Ukrainian-Russian border province while carrying a common sortie, with pieces falling apart inside Belgorod, Russian Federation

According to Russian media, 65 of the people onboard were Ukrainian Army Prisoners of War (PoWs) that were traveling alongside the Russian crew towards a Prisoner exchange, as it happened 7 other times this month, with the plane flying towards an airfield in Kharkov region where supposedly they would hand the Ukrainian PoWs to Ukraine and take Russian PoWs home

Russian Media claims that the plane was downed by an S-300 over Liptsy settlement in the Ukraine-controlled Kharkov region

Meanwhile it, Ukrainian media and Pro-Ukraine channels claim that the Cargo plane was actually carrying S-300s missiles and was targeted due to it, althought such a version couldnt be verified due to the lack of debris of the supposed missiles

All onboard died, including the crew.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ“ž๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡พโ—๏ธ โ€” ๐Ÿ“ฐ Foreign Policy: America Is Planning to Withdraw From Syriaโ€”and Create a Disaster

โžก๏ธ Since Hamasโ€™s brutal attack against Israel on Oct. 7 and the resulting Israeli military campaign in the Gaza Strip, tensions and hostilities across the Middle East have reached fever pitch. And with such a complex regional crisis playing out, it should not come as a surprise that the Biden administration is reconsidering its military priorities in the region.

โžก๏ธ It should be cause for significant concern, however, that this could involve a full withdrawal of U.S. troops from Syria. While no definitive decision has been made to leave, four sources within the Defense and State departments said the White House is no longer invested in sustaining a mission that it perceives as unnecessary.

โžก๏ธ Active internal discussions are now underway to determine how and when a withdrawal may take place.

โžก๏ธ The unprecedented international intervention launched in 2014 by the United States and more than 80 partner nations to defeat the terror groupโ€™s so-called territorial state was remarkably successful, with the final pocket of territory in Syria liberated in early 2019.

โžก๏ธ But the situation in neighboring Syria is more complex. With approximately 900 troops on the ground, the United States is playing an instrumental role in containing and degrading a persistent Islamic State insurgency in northeastern Syria, working alongside its local partners, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
