🇪🇺🚫🌐 Massive EU censorship law to come into effect next month

👉🏻 Thierry Breton is the current Commissioner for Internal Market of the European Union. He was yesterday on France Info to explain the new 'content moderation' rules which are about to become law on August 25.

🔎 The Digital Services Act specifies that websites or online platforms with at least 45 million users within the EU will come under more regulatory scrutiny, under the premise that they hold a special responsibility to police the internet and provide “safety” for their user base, with the legislation greatly expanding the ability of Brussels to police so-called ‘hate speech’ and ‘disinformation’.

Described as providing “an unprecedented level of public oversight” on the internet, DSA will place at least 19 online platforms under the strictest level of censorship. Those that fail to comply with the censorship law by February of 2024 will face fines of up to six per cent of their global revenue as well as a potential ban from Europe entirely.

The list of affected platforms is available here.
Telegram is not concerned by this law.

🇺🇦🤝🇵🇱🌐🇷🇺 TASS: Ukraine itself will never be a member of NATO, only that part of it that will become part of Poland will be able to join the alliance. This was stated by the head of the State Duma Defense Committee Andrei Kartapolov, commenting on the results of the first day of the NATO summit in Vilnius.

“We knew from the very beginning that no one would accept Ukraine there. <…> Therefore, nothing new. Ukraine will never be a member of NATO or will be a member of NATO only as part of Poland, some part of it,” Kartapolov told TASS
