โ "Billionaire financier George Soros is handing control of his massive empire to his son Alexander, a Soros spokesperson said on Sunday.
The spokesperson confirmed the details from an interview with Soros published in The Wall Street Journal on Sunday.
A hedge fund manager turned philanthropist and major backer of liberal causes, Soros, 92, said he previously didn't want his Open Society Foundations (OSF) to be taken over by one of his five children.
But speaking of his decision to turn over the foundation and the rest of his $25 billion empire to his 37-year-old son, who goes by Alex, the elder Soros said: "He's earned it."
Also interviewed by the newspaper, Alex said he's "more political" than his father and that he plans to continue donating family money to left-leaning U.S. political candidates."

โ "A total of 77 people have been arrested in connection with 35 industrial espionage cases during an intensive crackdown, police said Sunday.
The National Police Agency (NPA) conducted the crackdown on industrial espionage activities from Feb. 1 to May 31.
Out of the 77 arrests, 27 cases involved corporate espionage within local companies, while eight cases were related to the leaking of technology secrets abroad, including China, according to the NPA.
Comparatively, last year's intensive crackdown only reported one instance of overseas technology leak.
One of the suspects apprehended was a South Korean national working for a Chinese corporate entity affiliated with a local company, the NPA said. The suspect was arrested for leaking confidential business information while transitioning to a Chinese firm."

โ "German-led multinational exercise Air Defender 23 is the largest air force deployment in NATO's history. From June 12-23, the goal is to exercise air operations with Allied and Partner air forces. The focus is on optimizing and expanding cooperation among participating nations.
โWith exercise Air Defender 23, we are opening a new chapter in transatlantic history,โ said Lieutenant General Ingo Gerhartz, Chief of the German Air Force at a press conference for German and American journalists in the United States in early April.
The exercise - which Germany started to plan in 2018 - is based on a collective defence scenario also known as Article 5 scenario in which Allies deploy their air forces to Germany to fight against hybrid occupation forces from a fictitious opponent.
In coordinated combined operations, the Allied air forces demonstrate they are capable of defending NATO territory with swift decisive action. The exercise's large scale operations involve almost 10,000 personnel and more than 250 aircraft from 25 nations and NATO."
