Taiwan's air force scrambled into action on Sunday after spotting 10 Chinese warplanes crossing the median line of the Taiwan Strait.
Taiwan's defense ministry said that on Sunday it had detected 24 Chinese air force planes, including J-10, J-11, J-16 and Su-30 fighters, as well as H-6 bombers.
This is the second time in less than a week that Taiwan has reported renewed Chinese military activity, after 37 Chinese military aircraft on Thursday flew into the island's air defense zone.

Honduras opened an embassy in China after the Central American nation cut diplomatic relations with Taiwan earlier this year.
The embassy in Beijing was opened by foreign ministers from the two countries, state broadcaster CCTV reported.
Honduran President Xiomara Castro is in China for a state visit, during which she is to meet with her Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping.

Both the Army and the Air Force say they will not meet their recruiting goals this year, and the Navy also expects to fall short.
The Marine Corp is the only service on pace to meet its goal.
Defense leaders say young people are less familiar with the military, are drawn more to corporate jobs that provide similar education and other benefits, and want to avoid the risk of injury and death that service in defense of the United States could bring.
In addition, they say that little more than 20% meet the physical, mental and character requirements to join.

Towards the end of Rome, as it slipped into decadence, it became increasingly hard for the State to staff the Legions with citizens. Fewer and fewer sons of the Empire could be convinced to take up the burden and even conscription had limited gains. In the end, the fateful decision to recruit foreigners to fight her battles was made.
More often than not, the same peoples Rome fought would be recruited from to staff her armies. It worked sometimes, but when it didnβt it was disastrous. This most famously occurred at the end, when Germanic Fedorati brought about the final collapse of the Western Empire in 476.
The lesson here is that when you replace your soldiers, bound by blood and soil to the state, with foreigners loyal to their own ethnic and material interests, the end result is obvious.
