Local elections in Moldova’s pro-Russian autonomous region of Gagauzia were won on Sunday by the Ilan Shor Party’s candidate, Evghenia Gutul, according to results published by the Electoral Commission in Comrat, the central administrative city in the region.

🇲🇩❌🇷🇺 Moldovan prime-minister, Dorin Recean, stated that Moldova will withdraw from the CIS "step by step".

He cited for motives of the withdrawal the fact that the CIS did not help with creating peace in Transnistria and the several embargoes placed by Russia on Moldova, such events being considered by the Moldovan official as "gross violations of the pacts signed with the CIS".

He added that, in its place, Moldova will sign bilateral accords with other members of the CIS of its choosing.

🇲🇩🗳🟦⬜️🟥 The Central Electoral Commission in Comrat validated the elections for governor of Gagauzia.

Eugenia Guțul won the elections with 52% of the vote.

Grigorii Uzun lost the elections with 47% of the vote.

The results have to be confirmed again by the Comrat Court of Appeals. No appeals were made in regards with the elections.

🇲🇩🗳🟦⬜️🟥 The CNA handed out notices to all members of the Central Electoral Commission to present themselves before the court on May 18th as witnesses in a case regarding alleged voter fraud on behalf of Eugenia Guțul.

The General Assembly of Gagauzia called for an urgent meeting tonight. The Gagauzian MPs are not happy with Chisinau's interference in the local affairs of the autonomous unit.

Yesterday, prime-minister Dorin Recean stated that the Gagauzian elections had a number of irregularities in them while not providing any concrete evidence to back up his claims only saying that "the police will convince the electoral commission of the irregularities that took place during the elections".
