๐ช๐น Businesses reopen after Ethiopian militia protests
Businesses have been reopening in towns and cities across Ethiopia's Amhara region following six days of violent protests over plans to reorganise the armed forces.
At least five people have died in the demonstrations.
People took to the streets after Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said he intended to integrate the country's regional forces into one national army in order to improve security and unity.
Some in Amhara fear that without its own special forces the region would be more vulnerable to attacks.

๐ช๐ฌ๐ช๐น Egypt accuses Ethiopia of "buying time" in Nile dam row
Egyptโs deputy foreign minister on African affairs has accused Ethiopia of โbuying timeโ through negotiations while continuing to fill its disputed Nile dam without an agreement.
In a statement on Wednesday, the minister condemned statements by Ethiopia that had accused Cairo of โpoliticisingโ the Nile dam dispute.
Ethiopia, Sudan and Egypt have been embroiled in a years-long dispute over the dam, which Sudan and Egypt fear would reduce their shares of water from the River Nile.

๐จ๐ณโ๐บ๐ธ โ ๐ด ZeroHedge | China 'Surgically' Hits Foreign Firms As US Tech War Worsens | April 18, 2023:
"The US-driven "technology blockade" has greatly infuriated China, causing them to surgically target Western companies as the relationship between the two nations continues to deteriorate, according to Financial Times.
In the last two months, Chinese officials have hit US defense firms Lockheed Martin and Raytheon with new sanctions, raided US due diligence firm Mintz and arrested staff, detained a top executive from Japan's Astellas Pharma group, hit London-headquartered Deloitte with a massive fine, and launched an investigation into US chipmaker Micron.
"China has not abandoned its strategy of restraint to shift to a new position of wide-ranging retaliation, but they're going to surgically select companies to demonstrate their frustration," said Paul Haenle, a former China adviser to President George W Bush and Barack Obama."
