🇺🇸 🇲🇽 The US is disinterested in cooperation with their Mexican counterparts on solving the fentanyl crisis, despite clear rhetoric that they wanted the Mexican govt to work and speak with them. It may simply signal that they've already made up their minds and if Mexico attempts to stop any unilateral actions taken by the US in Mexico, they will be brushed aside no differently than, say, something akin to a Venezuelan or Cuban regime.

🇺🇸 🇲🇽 U.S. Indicts Four Sons of Imprisoned Drug Lord Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán
⬛️ Authorities say ‘Chapitos’ lead most prolific fentanyl-trafficking operation in the world
🟢 The U.S. indicted several members of Mexico’s powerful Sinaloa cartel, including four sons of imprisoned drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzmán, for leading what U.S. officials say is the world’s most prolific fentanyl-trafficking operation.
The indictments unsealed Friday came a day after Mexican cabinet members met in Washington with Attorney General Merrick Garland and other senior U.S. officials to coordinate cross-border actions against the smuggling of fentanyl, a synthetic opioid that has led to tens of thousands of overdose deaths in the U.S.

🇺🇸 🇲🇽 🇨🇳 The US Justice Department announced a sweeping crackdown on the Mexico’s Sinaloa cartel for pumping fentanyl into the US market, and on its Chinese suppliers of chemical ingredients for the deadly opioid.
“The Justice Department is attacking every aspect of the cartel’s operations,” going after Chinese chemicals traders, a middleman in Guatemala, and the sons of imprisoned Sinaloa founder Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, said Attorney General Merrick Garland.

🇺🇸 🇲🇽 🇨🇳 Two Chinese businesses were sanctioned by the United States after allegedly supplying precursor chemicals used to produce fentanyl to drug cartels in Mexico.
🔴 The announcement comes on the same day the Justice Department charged 28 Sinaloa Cartel members in a sprawling fentanyl trafficking investigation. The indictments also charged four Chinese citizens and one Guatemalan citizen with supplying those chemicals. The same five were also sanctioned by the Treasury Department, according to its release.
🟢 In recent years, the Drug Enforcement Administration has called on the Chinese government to crack down on supply chain networks producing precursor chemicals. DEA Administrator Anne Milgram told CBS News last year that Chinese companies are the largest producers of these chemicals.
🔴 In February, Iowa Republican Sen. Joni Ernst accused China of "intentionally poisoning" Americans by not stopping the supply chain networks that produce fentanyl.
🟢 Law enforcement and anti-drug cooperation between the U.S., China and Mexico "remains minimal," Felbab-Brown said in her testimony, and sanctions are one tool that may induce better cooperation.
🔴 Sanctions ensure that "all property and interests in property" for the designated persons and entities must be blocked and reported to the Treasury.
🟢 Chemical companies Wuhan Shuokang Biological Technology Co., Ltd and Suzhou Xiaoli Pharmatech Co., Ltd were slapped with sanctions for their contribution to the "international proliferation of illicit drugs or their means of production," the Treasury Department said.

🇺🇸 🇨🇳 🇲🇽 The Congressional hearings on Mexico often repeat "China is disrupting military exercises in the Gulf of Mexico, China is buying up the factories leaving China for Mexico, China owns the oil, gas, lithium, auto plants. China is producing and moving the drugs. China is..."
You begin to wonder at what point are they even talking about Mexico and not just China?
Perhaps, fentanyl in the US and the associated violence with it in Mexico is perceived as China's modern opium wars for payback against the British. Because they group all English speakers together. Like how we group all Asians as unipolar or as Chinese.
The US interest in Mexico is more about China than drugs or cartels. Even if that means obliterating Mexican sovereignty & relations. Albeit, a US intervention in Mexico is extremely popular among Americans. Far more than Ukraine or Taiwan, as drugs & crime flooding the border directly impacts them. Making it a hot item for politicians and Presidential candidates alike.

More than 200 migrants crammed into an abandoned truck in Mexico
Shortly before midnight on April 12, INM officials, with support from the National Guard, found the truck from which cries for help were coming from migrants who were traveling in overcrowded conditions. The security forces immediately opened the doors.
Inside were adult women and men, as well as minors who asked to leave for air and water. One of the migrants presented symptoms of suffocation, for which he was transferred to a hospital in an emergency. The container was conditioned with tubular structures and planks to fit as many people as possible.

— "The U.S. has rallied its European allies behind a $60-a-barrel cap on purchases of Russian crude oil, but one of Washington’s closest allies in Asia is now buying oil at prices above the cap.
Japan got the U.S. to agree to the exception, saying it needed it to ensure access to Russian energy. The concession shows Japan’s reliance on Russia for fossil fuels, which analysts said contributed to a hesitancy in Tokyo to back Ukraine more fully in its war with Russia.
While many European countries have reduced their dependence on Russian energy supplies, Japan has stepped up its purchases of Russian natural gas over the past year. Japan is the only Group of Seven nation not to supply lethal weapons to Ukraine, and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida was the last G-7 leader to visit Ukraine after Russia’s invasion."

The UH-60JA multipurpose helicopter is believed to have been caught up in an accident, Gen. Yasunori Morishita, chief of staff of the GSDF, told a press conference, as rescue efforts continued for the pilots, mechanics and other members of the Self-Defense Forces.
The helicopter disappeared from radar around 3:55 p.m. near Okinawa prefecture's Miyako Island, shortly after taking off from there to surveil nearby land features, according to the GSDF. The chopper was originally scheduled to return to Miyako Island at 5:05 p.m."
