— "The burgeoning decentralized cryptocurrency market threatens U.S. national security and needs greater oversight and enforcement against money-laundering, the U.S. Treasury Department said on Thursday.
The warning, in a new Treasury report assessing the risk of the so-called DeFi markets, lays the foundation for tougher regulations and punitive action by federal agencies.
DeFi platforms enable crypto investors to transact with each other through software running online, without a central intermediary overseeing transactions. Without the intermediaries of traditional finance such as banks, regulators currently have little insight into DeFi transactions. "

🚨🇬🇾🇻🇪 Court of The Hague rules against Venezuela and will advance with the trial for Guyana's claim on the Essequibo:
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled this Thursday, April 6, against Venezuela, by rejecting the preliminary objection raised by the Government of Nicolás Maduro in the case related to the Arbitral Award of October 3, 1899, in the dispute with Guyana for the Essequibo.
"By 14 votes to one, the Court rejects the preliminary objection filed by the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela," said the judge and president of the Court, Joan E. Donoghue, when reading the sentence from the La Paz Palace, in The Hague. .
In this way, the ICJ will advance with the analysis of the lawsuit filed by Guyana against Venezuela to resolve the dispute over the validity or otherwise of the Arbitral Award of 1899, which awarded the United Kingdom at the time the territory of Essequibo, a decision that Venezuela has protested ever since.
