🇨🇳🤝🇷🇺📰 Payload: US Places Sanctions on Spacety
— "On Friday, the US Treasury Department placed sanctions on Spacety, a Chinese smallsat developer and SAR provider, due its ties to Russian paramilitary organization Wagner Group.

Friday’s announcement singled out Wagner Group as a “significant transnational criminal organization.” It placed new sanctions on 16 organizations affiliated with Wagner, including Spacety.

“As sanctions and export controls on Russia from our international coalition continue to bite, the Kremlin is desperately searching for arms and support—including through the brutal Wagner Group—to continue its unjust war against Ukraine,” Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen said in a statement."

— "South Africa is on the verge of “collapse” amid rolling blackouts and warnings a total power grid failure could lead to mass rioting on the scale of a “civil war”.

Western embassies including the United States and Australia have advised their citizens in the country to stock up on “several days’ worth” of food and water and be on high alert during extended blackouts sweeping the country.

New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade advises “exercise extreme caution” due to strikes and demonstrations.

AfriForum: Annual Farm Murder Report 2022

According to the report, most farm attacks occured in Gauteng. There were 81 attacks and eight murders in this province in 2022. The Northern Cape had the lowest figure with six attacks during which four people were killed. Most farm murders take place between 18:00 and midnight, but there are also a high number of cases reported between 09:00 and 11:59. Almost 50% of murders occurred on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

More than 50% of farm murder victims are over 60 and more than 60% are men. Elizabeth Lee (89) was the oldest victim and was beaten to death with a chair by a fifteen-year-old suspect. Rhudie Binta (17) was the youngest victim who was shot dead during an attack along with his mother and five other victims.

Only 33% of criminals were arrested last year in connection with these murders. When suspects were apprehended, it was found that this took place within 48 hours of the attack.

AfriForum's annual farm murder report was launched today and although there was a decrease in reported cases, the 2022 report shows that the brutality of attacks has not decreased at all.

"There is no decrease in the brutality of farm attacks and murders. People are shot not just once, but repeatedly. In other cases, people were assaulted and died at the scene or later in hospital. Victims were also strangled, burned or stabbed to death during farm attacks," says Johan Nortjé, a researcher at AfriForum.

"There are many victims who don't report farm attacks to the police because they don't think anything will be done about it anyway. They prefer to contact their private security companies or neighborhood guards, including those from AfriForum, if there is an incident," says Chief Executive for Strategy Ernst Roets.

🇸🇻 — Nayib Bukele’s Growing List of Latin American Admirers

To his many critics, El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele has become a ruthless strongman, trampling due process and other civil protections. But within Latin America, his militarized crackdown on gangs is winning him a fan club that won’t stop growing.

Prominent politicians and everyday people in countries from neighboring parts of Central America to far-flung Peru and Chile have professed their admiration for his policies—and expressed a desire to see their own countries adopt a similar approach.
🇸🇻🇸🇬 “As President @nayibbukele continues to strengthen the rule of law his country will soon be a safer place than most of Western Europe.

El Salvador 🇸🇻 is now where Singapore 🇸🇬 was in the late 1960ies.

President Bukele is the Lee Kuan Yew of Central America.”

— Funny part: Remember when mainstream medias used go around back 2020-2021 and say that such exact talking point was minsinformation and made you a conspiracy theorist? And that anyone promoting such point should be censored on sight?

One might wonder if this has anything to do with the recent escalations between mainland China and Biden's US.
🇳🇮🇻🇦✝️📰 Vatican News: Nicaraguan president bans Easter processions and attacks bishops
— "In the latest move against the Catholic Church and government opponents in Nicaragua, the government of President Daniel Ortega has reportedly banned the traditional public processions of the Way of the Cross in all parishes in the country.

During Lent, and also on Good Friday, the ritual will take place inside churches and not in public venues.

The move comes in the context of President Ortega’s escalating crackdown against the Nicaraguan Church, and follows the widespread outcry over the recent sentencing of Bishop Rolando Álvarez of Matagalpa to 26 years’ imprisonment and the deportation to the United States of 222 political opponents.

They have all been stripped off citizenship along with other 94 Nicaraguan citizens, including the exiled Auxiliary Bishop Silvo José Baez, of Managua, and a priest from Matagalpa."

🇺🇸🇮🇷 Iran's most recent nuclear advance, stopping just short of weapons-grade uranium enrichment, underscores that a shift in US strategy is overdue, according to the Washington Institute.

“Washington and its partners need to move on from any remaining plans they might have to resurrect the 2015 JCPOA, namely by activating that accord’s “snapback” mechanism; and governments must heighten their efforts to deter Iran through credible threats of military force.”

🇧🇷🇷🇺 — According to an investigation into the documentation at the Itamaraty, Lula's alleged plan for war in Ukraine is non-existent

“A report published last week by the official Russian news agency Tass stated that the Russian government was studying President Lula’s ‘peace proposals’ for Ukraine. ‘We take note of the statements by the president of Brazil on the subject of a possible mediation’, said Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mikhail Galuzin, in the Tass note.”

“In some press outlets, the Russian report was interpreted as if a document had actually been sent. But, according to Itamaraty, so far there is no document, not even a sketch. There are only conversations.”

For Itamaraty officials, the conversations are just empty talk and do not add practical resolution.
