🇨🇩🇨🇩 — On January 24, 2023, a footage published on social medias show a 🇨🇩 Congo-Kinshasa Air Force Su-25 (One of only four of the country's Air Force) being hit by a presumed 🇷🇼 Rwandan MANPADS fired over Goma.

Kivu Region, whose the capital is Goma, is the main battleground between Congo-Kinshasa Armed Forces, 🇺🇳 United Nations Blue Helmets, 🏴‍☠️ CODECO Separatists and 🇨🇩 Rwanda-backed M23 Militants.

As expected, the Congo-Kinshasa government said that it "strongly condemns and accused the attack on its fighter jet by the Rwandan army in Congolese airspace and has no intention of letting it go", as well, again, accused the Rwandan Government of supporting the M23 Militants.

Such incident takes place amidst renewed tensions between Congo-Kinshasa and Rwanda

🇷🇺🇺🇦❗️ — Former Russian Federation President and deputy chairman of RF's Security council Dmitry Medvedev says that 'Ukraine will soon have no access to the sea', hinting on a possible operation to seize the port city

🇷🇺🐻 Former President of Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev on Telegram:
— "They say that appetite comes with eating. For those who suffer from an eating disorder in the form of bulimia or compulsive overeating, the feeling of hunger is endless. Constantly want to eat!

So the worthless bosses of Malorussia (Ukraine) all the time want more and more.
More tanks, cars, guns. Now some schmuck has said they need planes and... submarines.
Okay, the planes are somehow understandable.

True, there are practically no normal runways left, and the Ukrainian sky is closed by us.
But submarines are very strong. Especially considering that soon the Kiev Regime will have no sea at all.

Then you will have to sit in a boat right in the middle of the Dnieper, learning the immortal We all live in a yellow submarine with musical curators. Although the submarine will, apparently, be yellow-blue."

🇺🇸 🇬🇧 Anon: The Future is Modular

Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle
The Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle (AMPV)
is a U.S. Army program to replace the M113 armored personnel carrier and family of vehicles.[1] AMPV is a sub-project of the Next Generation Combat Vehicle program.

🔴 In 2014, the U.S. Army selected BAE Systems' proposal of a turretless variant of the Bradley Fighting Vehicle to replace over 2,800 M113s in service.[2]

⚪️ As of 2022, five variants of the AMPV are planned: M1283 General Purpose (522 planned), M1284 Medical Evacuation Vehicle (790 planned), M1285 Medical Treatment Vehicle (216 planned), M1286 Mission Command (993 planned), and M1287 Mortar Carrier Vehicle (386 planned).[3] As of 2015 the program was scheduled to deliver 2,897 vehicles at a total cost of $10.723 billion, or $3.7 million per vehicle.[4]

🔵 The first AMPV prototype was rolled out in December 2016,[5] and the first production vehicles began rolling out in September 2020.[6]

⬛️ XM1283 General Purpose (GP): Replaces the M113A3 APC. Requirements are for 2 crew and 6 troops, be configured to carry one litter, and mount a crew served weapon. Tasks include conducting logistics package escort, emergency resupply, casualty evacuation, and security for medical evacuation.[35] 522 planned.[3]

⬛️ XM1284 Medical Evacuation Vehicle (MEV): Replaces the M113 AMEV. Requirements are for 3 crew and able to have either 6 ambulatory patients, 4 litter patients, or 3 ambulatory patients and 2 litter patients. It must also have medical equipment sets and environmental cooling. Tasks include conducting medical evacuation from the point of injury to an aid station and medical resupply replenishment.[35] 790 planned.[3]

⬛️ XM1285 Medical Treatment Vehicle (MTV): Replaces the M577A3 Medical Vehicle. Requirements are for 4 crew and one litter patient, as well as medical equipment sets and environmental cooling. Tasks include serving as the forward aid station, main aid station, and battalion aid station.[35] 216 planned.[3]

⬛️ XM1287 Mortar Carrier Vehicle (MCV): Replaces the M1064A3 Mortar Carrier. Requirements are for 2 crew and 2 mortar crew, with a 120 mm mortar and 69 mortar rounds. The task is to provide indirect mortar fire.[35] 386 planned.[3]

⬛️ XM1286 Mission Command (MCmd): Replaces the M1068A3 Command Post Carrier. Requirements are for 2 crew, 2 operators, and a mount for a crew served weapon. The task is to serve as a command post.[35] 993 planned.[3]

⬛️ Engineer Vehicle: An internal BAE project in collaboration with the US Army to develop an engineer vehicle to replace M113's in that role at Echelons Above Brigade (EAB).[36]

🇺🇸 🇬🇧 🇺🇦 Troop carrier replacement production ramping up

⬛️ To retire the aging M113 armored troop carriers, the Army and BAE Systems are working to accelerate the new Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle production.

⬛️ Efforts to increase production come as the United States continues to supply weapons to Ukraine.

⬛️ The Pentagon has sent several of the current M113s to Ukraine. As of October, the department had pledged 200 vehicles to Ukraine since Russia invaded. The M113s came from the Army National Guard, Maj. Gen. Glenn Dean, program executive officer for ground combat systems, said.

⬛️ Congress has already provided some funding to replace the M113s with AMPVs, according to Dean. The service is working with BAE to increase its rate of production, originally reported by Army Times sister publication Defense News
Moves to quicken production may surprise some, considering the service originally sought to slow rate of AMPV acquisitions over its five-year plan between fiscal years 2023 and 2027. The new pace would extend procurement for AMPV out to 2035, as the Army went from a purchase rate of 190 AMPVs a year to 131 a year.

🇺🇸 🇬🇧 A real-life Lego tank: BAE touts modular design for Army OMFV

⬛️ A redesign already trimmed the troop compartment from nine passengers to six, BAE says. Want to upgrade the engine? Load new software? Add a drone-killing laser? Unlike on the old Bradley, there’s plenty of room.

⬛️ BAE’s design to replace its Reagan-era M2 Bradley troop carrier looks an awful lot like a sexed-up Bradley. But inside, the company told reporters today, the company’s proposal for the Army’s future Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle (OMFV) contract is radically different than its predecessor. For starters, you’d have a hard time finding the engine.

⬛️ In fact, the Lego philosophy of design, what engineers call Modular Open Systems Architecture (MOSA), is mandatory on the Army’s OMFV program, and BAE has embraced it enthusiastically, Miller said. This approach isn’t unique to BAE: Archrival General Dynamics has also emphasized MOSA and adaptability.

⬛️ That adaptability contrasts starkly with Cold War-era vehicles like the Bradley, where every function was hardwired into a specific piece of hardware with its own proprietary software, making every upgrade a jigsaw-puzzle nightmare of complex systems integration.

⬛️ Those upgrade difficulties are a big part of why the Army — after four decades of modifying the Bradley — has decided to go with an all-new design for OMFV. They wanted a built-in APS instead of kludging one on, better protection against both top-attack missiles and roadside bombs (traditional armor is heaviest on the front), a bigger gun (a 50 mm MX913 autocannon vs. Bradley’s 25 mm), a lot of automation, and, most important, a lot of room to grow.

⬛️ BAE is proud of its extensive experience on armored vehicles, said Miller, but “this is not the PIM program, this is not the AMPV program, this not the predecessors to those, where everybody saw BAE as a heavy metal bender…. The world is changing and it is really about integrating [the] software, the open architecture.”

⬛️ “IFVs [Infantry Fighting Vehicles] are in service for a long time, decades,” Miller said. “You have to start with a vehicle that can grow and adapt to new threats, new technologies.”
