🇱🇧🇱🇧❗️ — Lebanese Medias report that displays at the Beirut Airport lounge were hacked, displaying messages against Hezbollah and Iran, calling for the end of Iranian Occupation of Lebanon

Alongside the messages, the logo of Jnoud el Rab, the 'Soldiers of God', a Maronite Nationalist Group known for actions against LGBT community and Communist groups in Lebanon.

Despite this, it is not known whether the group itself is involved in the action or not, as Jnoud el Rab is generally affiliated with figures from the Free Patriotic Movement, which despite being a Maronite Christian party is more Hezbollah-friendly when compared to Explicitly anti-Muslim parties such as the Lebanese Forces (Conservative Maronites), the Kataeb (Phalangists) and the Christian Front (Anti-Iran & Pro-UNIFIL), with some on social medias suggesting that it might be an action by 🇮🇱 Third Parties

🇪🇹🤝🏳️📰 Bloomberg: Ethiopia Offers Airline Stake to Somaliland for Red Sea Access

➡️ Ethiopia signed a memorandum of understanding with Somaliland, a breakaway region of Somalia, to gain access to the Red Sea in exchange for a stake in its flagship carrier Ethiopian Airlines.

➡️ Detailed negotiations to reach a formal agreement will be concluded in a month, said Redwan Hussein, national security adviser to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. He didn’t disclose the stake Ethiopia will offer for Africa’s biggest airline.

➡️ The MoU will enable Ethiopia to access the Red Sea from Somaliland to use as a military base and for commercial purposes for 50 years, Hussein said at a briefing on Monday in the capital Addis Ababa. It will be able to lease a “20 kilometer (12 miles) long access for the Ethiopian Navy base and to be used as one of its entry ports,” Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi said at the same event.

➡️ Ethiopia can also build infrastructure and a corridor, Hussein said.

➡️ As part of the agreement Africa’s second most populated nation will recognize Somaliland as a sovereign state, Bihi said.

➡️ Somaliland seceded from Somalia more than 30 years ago, but is not recognised internationally.

➡️ It said that Ethiopia agreed to recognise its independence at some point in the future in exchange for military access to the coast.

➡️ Ethiopia has not confirmed this aspect of Monday's contentious deal.

➡️ Instead, the office of Ethiopia's Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said it signed what is known as a memorandum of understanding (MoU) "to secure access to the sea and diversify its access to seaports".

The call also touched on regional situations, as the President stressed that Al-Sisi affirmed Egypt’s firm position to stand by brotherly Somalia and support its security and stability.

——

The Somali President started the initiation by calling the Egyptian President first, the Somali government is obviously concerned with the flagrant violation of sovereignty that Ethiopia has committed, a response must be made and a plan must be laid out.

🇪🇹 🇸🇴 🇦🇪 Ethiopia's deal to gain access to the Red Sea with the de facto independent Somaliland Republic could weaken regional counterterrorism cooperation against al Qaeda–affiliate al Shabaab and will affect the geopolitical balance among East Africa and Gulf states.

🔶️ The rupture of Ethiopian-Somali relations would weaken regional counterterrorism cooperation and almost certainly affect the continued legal presence of Ethiopian soldiers in Somalia, which are fighting al Shabaab.

🔶️ Al Shabaab will likely increase its attacks against Ethiopian forces in the Horn of Africa to capitalize on anti-Ethiopian sentiment among Somalis to boost funding and recruitment.

🔶️ Ethiopia’s African Red Sea neighbors in Djibouti, Egypt, and Eritrea will likely view an Ethiopian base as an economic and security threat within the context of their individual geopolitical rivalries with Ethiopia.

🔶️ An Ethiopian port will likely strengthen the UAE’s position in its regional rivalry with other Gulf countries, such as Saudi Arabia and Qatar, due to its strong ties with the Ethiopian government.

"❗️🇮🇱🇵🇸 Aggravation in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict zone — chronicle of events for January 6-7, 2024

The IDF operation continues in the Gaza Strip. The main fighting is taking place in the central and southern parts of the enclave. In the north, despite the announcement of the completion of the operation, clashes occur periodically, and the Israelis launch strikes from both UAVs and aircraft.

In the West Bank, the situation has not undergone significant changes. Israeli security forces continue to conduct police operations in various localities in the region. Palestinians actively oppose the police, and from time to time there are attempts at knife attacks or attacks on IDF soldiers.

The situation on the border with Lebanon is getting worse every day. The number of mutual strikes between the IDF and Hezbollah is growing, and strikes are taking place along the entire border. An explosion was heard in the waters of Haifa, and Israeli planes violated Lebanese airspace.

🇸🇴🇪🇹 Somalis protest against Ethiopia-Somaliland deal

Tens of thousands of Somali residents gathered at the Conis Stadium in the Somali capital for several days to express their anger regarding the recent agreement between Ethiopia and Somaliland concerning sea and port leases.

Ethiopia is believed to have been granted an exclusive lease on the sea for a period of 50 years, which has raised concerns about Somalia's sovereignty as a result.

The Mogadishu regional administration organized the rally to allow residents to express their concerns regarding the perceived encroachment on Somalia's maritime territory.

In the scene, Somalis were chanting and holding banners throughout worried that the lease agreement would undermine Somalia's national interests and put their livelihood in danger.

According to demonstrators, the lease could establish a precedent for further resource exploitation in Somalia.

🇸🇴🇪🇹 Somalia rejects Ethiopia-Somaliland port deal and summons ambassador

Somalia said a pact its breakaway region of Somaliland has signed with Ethiopia allowing it to use the Red Sea port of Berbera had no legal force and threatened regional stability.

Somalia also summoned its ambassador to Ethiopia for deliberations over the port agreement signed by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi.

The agreement would allow landlocked Ethiopia to set up commercial operations at a leased military base in Berbera. It also included recognizing Somaliland as an independent nation in due course.

"It is a violation and an open interference with Somalia's sovereignty, freedom and unity. The so-called a memorandum of understanding and agreement of cooperation is null and void," Somalia's cabinet said.

Somalia President Hassan Sheik Mohamud stated that not an inch of Somalia can or will be signed away by anybody.

🌍🇺🇸🇸🇴 AU, US urge respect for Somalia's sovereignty amid row

The African Union and the US have called for the respect of Somalia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, in response to a controversial sea access deal that Ethiopia struck with the self-declared republic of Somaliland.

Somaliland seceded from Somalia in 1991 but is not internationally recognised as an independent state.

US Department of State spokesperson Matthew Miller on Wednesday said that "the United States recognises the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia within its borders".

AU Commission chair Moussa Faki has also urged for the respect of the "unity, territorial integrity and full sovereignty of Somalia and Ethiopia".

Both the US and AU have also asked the involved parties to pursue diplomatic dialogue to peacefully resolve the row, amid concerns that the deal could escalate tensions in the Horn of Africa region.

Somalia's President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud signed a law nullifying an agreement by the breakaway Somaliland region to grant Ethiopia access to the Red Sea in return for recognition as an independent nation, he said.

Somalia, which considers Somaliland part of its territory, rejected the New Year's Day deal that would allow landlocked Ethiopia to lease 20 km around the port of Berbera, on the Gulf of Aden with access to the Red Sea, for 50 years for its navy and commercial purposes.

Ukrainian blogger Roman Kravets “joker”that works for the office of president of Ukraine treats the families of “draft dodgers” with real estate expropriations

“January 9.

On January 9, a law on mobilization will be adopted.

In 2 days.

In many families, men began to transfer property to their wives, mainly cars.

Fearing seizure of property.

Since one of the norms of the law that they want to adopt is the arrest of the property of a person hiding from the army commissars.

First of all, congratulations to the women.

Secondly, I have bad news for you, arrest may be imposed on the entire family, and not just on the person hiding from the army commissars

Guys, get a divorce.”
